Saskia Sassen, Robert S. Lynd Professor of Sociology at Columbia University and Centennial Visiting Professor at the London School of Economics, was named as the AAG's 2012 Honorary Geographer. She received the award and delivered a presentation entitled, "Analytic Tactics: Geography as Obstacle." Her work has had far-reaching impact on the study of globalization and its influence on labor mobility, global cities, and new technologies. Sassen is also the author of the influential books, The Mobility of Labor and Capital, The Global City, and Territory, Authority, Rights: From Medieval to Global Assemblages.
