http://www.autobytel.com/land-rover/lr4/2012/?id=32972 Land Rover makes some of the most capable off-road vehicles in the world. In fact the Land Rover has been navigating the toughest terrain for decades. So can the 2012 Land Rover LR4 adapt to suburban life? Well the Land Rover LR4 is very comfortable, it is easy to drive, has plenty of power, and can seat up to 7 passengers. The base price on the 2012 Land Rover LR4 is $48,900 with the top of the line HSE LUX model going for $58,995. The 2012 Land Rover LR4 is powered by a 5.0 liter V-8 direct injected engine that produces 375 horsepower and 375 lb-ft. of torque. Power is transferred to the wheels through a 6-speed ZF automatic transmission. The Land Rover LR4 sports full time AWD. Fuel economy is 12 MPG in the city and 17 MPG on the highway. The AWD system is pretty technologically advanced which is why Land Rover SUVs are considered the best off-road vehicles the world over. The LR4 features Hill Descent Control which allows the vehicle to navigate steep terrain without the driver needing to use the brake or accelerator. The Gradient Release Control also works with the HDC to provide a smooth pace downhill. The Electronic Traction Control supplies power to the wheel that needs it most in the even of slippage. At each corner of the SUV there is a sophisticated air suspension. This is used to either lower the LR4 for street use or to raise the SUV almost 5 inches for maximum ground clearance while off-road. Dynamic Stability Control improves the LR4's handing while on the road. Tall SUVs are known to roll over but the Roll Stability Control System works to keep all 4 wheels on the road. The 2012 Land Rover LR4 has a towing capacity of 7,700 lbs. To help prevent trailer sway the LR4 has something called Trailer Stability Assist to help correct any towing problems. Besides the great off-road capabilities the 2012 Land Rover LR4 comes packed with tons of luxury features and option on the inside. The seats are wrapped in high-end leather as are many of the interior surfaces. You can choose between a Walnut trim or a Black Lacquer trim. The driver sits in an optimum position so that they have a commanding view of the road. The huge sunroof is called the Alpine Roof and provides tons of light to all the passengers. A 7-inch touch screen navigation unit and Harmon/Kardon stereo system are wonderful features. The 2012 Land Rover LR4 love to hit the trail and take on tough off-road challenges. But this SUV is more than capable being your daily luxury SUV driver. See More Car Videos http://www.autobytel.com/car-videos/?id=32972 Join Our Facebook Page http://www.facebook.com/autobytel

Ron is the man. Is he still with Autobytel? I haven't seen him in recent videos.

Thank you for the review. I do find it hard to believe that 99% of people will ever see a dirt road with this vehicle. It is a status symbol and that is about it. I live in Northern VA where people wipe their a$$ with 20 dollar bills. See these all the time, but not once covered in mud. I find it funny they even have settings like "rock climbing" in this thing. Beautiful car though.

OK in the UK all rows are standard, so no extra charge for seats in 3rd row. No sure if its 10K in the US for the extra seats, but either way the following is true. Landrover is very capable. I have both LR 3 and LR 4 but diesel engines not US standard. I have gone from LR service to local independent since they offer a better service for far less cost. there are many pretenders in the UK to off road capabilities, but non compare to the LR. Probably the closest is toyota or mitsubishi. I had a 3 ltr Jeep grand Cherokee for a month, but traded it in as it was less efficient per miles per gallon and had sprung a leak from the engine. I did not have a chance to take it off road. either way, land rover, jeep, nissan or mitsubishi, they are all capable in comparison to VW, suzuki, Porche, audi etc which would struggle to perform in a challenging environment.

what a useless presenter ... ohhh its such hard work to reach in and get the 3rd row seats ... what a wanker

This guys said "you know" 8 times in a 6 minute video. And that's what I just wasted 10 minutes learning. I need to get back to work....

I laugh at the end of your review because I own 200 series Land Cruiser and love it but owned a LR3 back in 2006 and with it's suspension software issues I still enjoyed it. I'm currently looking at the 2013 LR4 because my wife complains how stiff my modified suspension is on the 200. 108k miles and zero issues thus far

How about lr3
-
Pretty good for a v8, but still what do ya think of this the new range rover has a combined cycle of 37.7 mpg and get over 40 on a run, pretty good for current fuel prices
-
What Im trying to say is you should do an off road review!
-
I like your videos but a lot of the time I feel like you are selling the car not reviewing it. You talk a lot about brand reputation and off roading ability but dont really test it at all...
-
less space !!!

You're thinking in UK sized(4.5L) gallons, which are about 20% bigger than American gallons. So 23 hwy(US) would be around 27-28 normal gallons, which is pretty good for a petrol V8.
-
That's terrible we had a 08 discovery 3 with the 2.7 v6 averaged around 30 miles to the gallon (combined)
-
It's not a small car to any degree, and is shaped like a box. It's actually more like 23 hwy, these new 5.0's are pretty good on fuel.
-
You've obviously never driver one, they're amazing.
-
No they don't.

Loads of people love LR's, and their quality and reliability has seriously increased since 2010. Even people with unreliable older LR's keep them, because when the work, they really are awesome vehicles.
-
WTF is a "hockey dad"?! Soccer mom is a generic term for a car used as a family vehicle. No the LR4 is not a female orientated vehicle, not to any degree. The RR Sport is though.
-
RR, it's far more luxurious. But the LR4 is better if you're actually going off road, as the RR is no more capable and lacks cargo room.
