TL,DW. But my take is China won't be interested in giving India much of a challenge to take the crown. They are well aware of the issues associated with this thorny throne. They are now primarily focused on becoming Tech giant, building state of art technological marvels to quality products, be it aircraft or spacecrafts, bullet trains or sports vehicle. They want to move away from the old notion of Chinese quality, and give a shot for high margin designing industry rather low margin and labor intensive Manufacturing. The rise of middle class income requires govt to improve standards of living and labor laws. They are ready to give the western countries concession in their strict investment policy and for market may even yield their strict monetary regime.
But, its wouldn't be a cake walk for India either. World is no more in need of "Another China". A global manufacturing hub creates distortion in global trade, and you can't coerce others unless ruthless enough. And the present global institutions are made to restrict right that. -
We need to invest more in Infrastructure ......if we need to catch PRC quickly...

Just talk and talk...just keep talking and bragging..

India should stop talking like this! bla bla will never overtake china!
-
India should aim to overtake the USA and then the Galaxy.
-
Why make China benchmark? Lets do what we can to our maximum and exceed China if we can.
