The portuguese explored many regions.Often they were the first europeans to get there. From Greenland,Canada,Brasil,Central America,Africa to India,Japan,China,Australia. They left more than 800 fortresses, monuments all over the world. Many great sailors were portuguese, some navigating for Spain. Some say Columbus was portuguese born in the village of Cuba in Portugal.Sadly the 1755 tsunami destroyed Lisbon and many age of discovery docs were lost. Google for "Evolution of the Portuguese Empire".
