You cant have a retirement pension if you dont have children or too few. Children are the retirement pension. You need to invest financially but also demographically if you want a good pension. How will youre pension investment yield a return if the amount of workers and consumers is going down?
In Germany the finance minister suggested that childless people should get half pensions because they did not contribute enough demographically.
What societies need is a stable population, not a growing one and not a declining one. Our world suffers from overpopulation and over consumption, especially in the rich countries the problem is primarely over consumption of non durable resources. -

An ageing population is better than a Population ponzi scheme, there are benefits to an ageing population rarely reported e.g. less crime, less education costs, plus a boost to the economy through all the inheritance money being spent a few years later. Overly large young populations are inherently unstable and prone to causing riots and revolutions.
