President Rajapaksa has emphasised that all Asian countries are strong enough to solidify the global economy. He was addressing the 8th Asia Cooperation Dialogue Ministerial Meeting Foreign Ministers and Representatives of the Asian region participated in the meeting at the BMICH. They represented 31 countries. The theme was Spirit of Asia: Global Economic Recovery and Development Prospects. In his address the President further said he received enormous support from many Western Nations to rout terrorism. However, the victory was achieved only through their efforts. Problems of a country can be solved only by the people of that particularly nation. Asia should endeavour to regain its freedom surmounting threats from various fronts. Clarifying the tasks of Monetary Agencies in transacting with Asia, President Rajapaksa said the IMF was playing a leading role in the Asian region. Sri Lankas Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama was the Chairman of the Ministerial Meeting. Giving his views, the Minister said Asia remained at a level to challenge other continents. Ambassador of Kazakhstan Baudarbek Kozhatayev spoke on behalf of the Foreign Minister of that country as former ACD Chair. Foreign Minister of Thailand Kasit Piromya also spoke.
