Baroness Shriti Vadera worked for 14 years at the Investment Bank UBS Warburg, where she was advising governments of developing countries. In 2007 she was appointed Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State in the Department for International Development by Gordon Brown. After just 6 months she moved to the Department of Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform and became Parliamentary Secretary in the Cabinet Office in 2008. Since December 2010, she is a member of the Boards of BHP Billiton and AstraZeneca as a Non-Executive Director.
