Interviewees: Shin Se-don, professor at Sookmyung Women's University/Lee Doo-won, professor at Yonsei University This is the first year of the Park Geun-hye administration. The government has put forward revitalization of the economy and stabilization of people's livelihood as its banner. But it faced a lot of challenges and crisis. First of all, the global economy suffered as major countries competitively adopted quantitative easing to stabilize their economies. In particular, Japan's Abenomics came as a big threat to South Korea's economy as Japan is South Korea's closest neighboring country and the two economies largely affect each other. So how did South Korea deal with Abenomics in the past year? And in the end, was it more of a positive or negative factor for South Korea's economy? Moreover, we will have time to look back on the domestic and overseas events that occurred in 2013 and talk about their implications. These events include an announcement of the Federal Reserve's exit strategy, global economic crisis including talks of economic crisis in emerging countries, and discussions on South Korea's economic democratization.
