The money you save on fuel mileage is negated by the price of diesel though. Where l live diesel is about $3.19/gallon whereas gasoline is only $1.92/gallon. It also costs a lot more to have work done on a diesel, even oil changes
-
This is hopefully my next car, I have loved the X5's for years now and now that I have been checking out the diesels this year I just gotta have it!
-
In Europe we say "SUV" (Sport Utility Wagon)
-
That's why there is a flood of them for sale on AutoTrader. Fun to drive but not fun when gas is not $1/gallon anymore. I miss those days.
-
Nice pick. My uncle has the v8 and its a complete hog

I test drove the xDrive35d first and almost passed on it. Then I drive the xDrive35i and saw how much gas it sucked. Then I went and test drove the diesel again. The diesel has PLENTY of "PRACTICAL" torque. We never race people and need to rev it to 5,000+ RPM's. Diesel power is perfect for responsible driving adults. If a person drives the post speed limits, there's no need for a gasoline powered car. Diesel is the way to go for going back & forth to work commuting. Love it!!
-
Indeed, Diesel is the way to go for commuting all the torque just gives you insane passing power! and for the weekends, pull out the gas car and let it rev out!

Absolutely not true. They have one of the worst reliability records out there. Landrover's are just as bad as Hummer H2's. They look awesome. Just keep aside a few grand some place to get upcoming repairs once it's out of warranty. If you get a used BMW, try to keep $7,000 extra in a savings account some place in case the transmission blows. $8,000 for a tranny in an Audi A8 out of warranty. DOH!
-
That is absolutely true. If you like to street race or love keeping it at 5,000+ RPM's, a diesel is definitely not a vehicle to buy. But scooting around town and passing cars on the road, it has the torque just where you need it as long as you're already in motion. 0-60 times suck on a diesel, but once you're on roll past 20+ MPH, then it does very well. It's a joy for me to drive diesel in stop and go traffic. I blow past people all day long with the low end torque with little effort.
-
Because they are ignorant assholes, plain and simple, who won't open up their minds. They compare apples to oranges. They keep remembering the old, slow, smelly Mercedes diesels from the 80's. I have a diesel now and am amazed at the power. I test drove the xDrive 35d tonight. Amazing SUV. Get the upgraded stereo if you get one. It kicks ass!! I test drove the gasoline one, too. WHOA! WHAT A GAS HOG!! I'm buying the diesel one instead. Forget gasoline. Too inefficient & expensive.
-
Diesel is 50% cheaper and gets more mpg
-
Diesels got nice bottom end torque and all, but when you wanna punch it and get going it ain't got nothing on a high redlining gas engine
-
No one buys diesels here...and I don't know why.
-
Lol, diesels are exotic in America?
-
Filmed that last Friday morning, right after the light snow.
-
BMW's are definitely more reliable. German designed and made in North Carolina.
-
yes I know.
-
Don't listen to Reflex. Landrovers, even modern ones are known as some of the most un reliable vehicles on the roads, regardless of the vehicle segment
-
When was this filmed haha? Right now its raining and 67 degrees Thursday we back to 26
-
Range Rovers is probably more reliable, but also way too overpriced.
