This video is made by 5 students: Ajsa Delic, Ena Ahmic, Faruk Hodzic, Melisa Brackan & Zemira Mehmedovic. We are all students at the University of Tuzla, (Bosnia and Herzegovina),Department of English Language and Literature, 3rd year. This project was initiated by our English Literature Professor Dr. Damir Arsenijevic. Our task was to use our imagination in order to present what the life was like for children in the period of the Industrial Revolution. So through pictures, which illustrate the real state of children, and through texts, we wanted to show how the real situation looked like. Through accepting our history, we express our hope to find some meaning in experience, and in this particular case to never again let our children suffer like children in the Industrial Revolution had to... We hope that we succeeded in our attempt and that through this video you will be able to understand how difficult life for children was, and how unfair they were treated...

my wife's great grandfather's mom was just 3 years old her job was oppenning gates to great estate of Rothschild family at 6 am because the family liked morning hunting games as the gates opened set of horses and big wheeled would pass by her fast and would shower her in mud from head to toe they would throw a 3 pence as a salary not even as a tip, however not much changed just different dynamics but the elite still uses us as in some slavery form,shame that some people really think just because you have more money you are above the law and people God sees this and they will answer for this all of us will non of us is immune we should be aware till time comes and try to be kinder better people.

heartbreaking video those poor poor kids bless them some of my ancestors were sent to work as young kids and a few even ended up in the dreaded workhouse but they came out and did good for themselves

Give the Tories a few more years and we'll be back to this. Victorian England was a paradise to those scum. No benefits or human rights, everyone put to work or left to starve, public executions, education only available to the rich, and the lower classes "knowing their place". What a lovely country this was before all those nasty socialist lefties ruined everything.

Hello! The children were needed to help support their family because adults were NOT HIRED, being less docile and more costly. Also, orphans were expendable and nobody would defend them...except Oliver Twist who had Nancy! Some may be interested in this. The fabric mills in Britain didn't retool until mid-20th century. The old mills from the early times were sold off to India and Pakistan. The homespun looking cloth and plaid flannels in men's clothes, pajamas now are woven on these same old machines, often by children.

It saddening and disturbing me to see a young person express such a cynical and misguided view. Education is a privilege, not indoctrination as you seem to be implying here. I don't know what was on your school syllabus Paul, but I recall from my school days that English included the authors Shakespeare, Orwell and JD Salinger, the periodic table was elucidated in Chemistry, Darwin's Theory of evolution in Biology, Pythagoras Theorem in Maths, etc, etc. An incredible body of accumulated knowledge is taught on a typical school syllabus - it's certainly 'drivel'.
Additionally, I have to say that your farm chores are simply an irrelevant comparison to the children that have been exploited to work for over 10 hours a day in dangerous conditions such as mills and mines. Not the same thing at all. -
As always the emphasis and intentions are wrong. Children are placed in schools so that when they grow into adults they can be easily controlled. From the age of six I worked on my grandfather's farm, scrapping manure from a concrete yard into a pile and then shoveling it into a waiting sled. I did not work for a long time, perhaps one hour of every day was spent this way. Removing work from the lives of children completely and replacing it with useless drivel in no way to enrich a society.
