Andrew Brown Wall Street Journal January 16, 2011 Hu Highlights Need for U.S.-China Cooperation, Questions Dollar BEIJING—Chinese President Hu Jintao emphasized the need for cooperation with the U.S. in areas from new energy to space ahead of his visit to Washington this week, but he called the present U.S. dollar-dominated currency system a "product of the past" and highlighted moves to turn the yuan into a global currency. "We both stand to gain from a sound China-U.S. relationship, and lose from confrontation," Mr. Hu said in written answers to questions from The Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post. Mr. Hu acknowledged "some differences and sensitive issues between us," but his tone was generally compromising, and he avoided specific mention of some of the controversial issues that have dogged relations with the U.S. over the past year or so—including U.S. arms sales to Taiwan that led to a freeze in military relations between the world's sole superpower and its rising Asian rival. AFP January 16, 2011 Hu calls currency system 'product of the past' China's President Hu Jintao said Sunday the international currency system was "a product of the past," but it would be a long time before the yuan is accepted as an international currency. Hu's comments, which came ahead of a state visit to Washington on Wednesday, reflected the continuing tensions over the dollar's role as the major reserve currency in the aftermath of the US financial crisis in 2008. "The current international currency system is the product of the past," Hu said in written answers to questions posed by The Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post. Highlighting the dollar's importance to global trade, Hu implicitly criticized the Federal Reserve's recent decision to pump 600 billion dollars into the US economy, a move criticized as weakening the dollar at the expense of other countries' exports. http://www.infowars.com/china-says-the-end-of-the-dollar-is-near/

Why are news media misinforming people about China owning all America debt? The Fed and Americans owns most American of the debt and NOT China. Treasury department sign blank checks to Federal reserve and in turn sign another blank checks to the banks takes your 401k and etc invest in America debt...etc.

I agree. Without the FRA the theft of America's wealth would have gone down much differently, if at all. End the FED. Regulate the banks to the hilt, break them up and execute the crooks at the top. They think they're too big to fail? HA! The American people are too big to ignore.

While I agree with most of your reply, I would say that the real FAIL happened when Woodrow Wilson signed the Federal Reserve Act around 1913. The Rothschilds tried to get into the U.S. money market since at least 1860s. Lincoln laughed them out the door. Later, Rockafeller got his rich friends to get in a group to loan money to the U.S. After which, the bankers tried to get Congress to pass new legislation several times giving them control over the money supply. Woodrow Wilson killed America.

The dollar ended when we stopped backing it with tangeble gold. The gold standard effectively came to an end in 1933 when FDR outlawed private gold ownership. The Bretton Woods System, enacted in 1946, created a system of fixed exchange rates that allowed governments to sell their gold to the United States treasury at the price of $35/ounce. The B-Woods system ended on August 15, 1971, under Nixon. Since then, formal links between major world currencies & real commodities have ceased to exist.
