Cities in Somalia begin to feel effects of of khat import restrictions

Somalia is the biggest market for the narcotic stimulant known as Khat. Or more accurately, it used to be. From the 6th of September, however, the import of Khat into the country has been banned. Farmers in one of the biggest source markets, Kenya, are now looking at losses of millions of dollars. CCTV's Abdulaziz Billow reports from Mogadishu.

khat has no economic benefit for Somalia. it's drain on the economy, on the health of its users, and strain on family and productivity of workers. ban it completely.
