As the world faces its worst economic crisis since the great depression, Vietnam's economy is facing unprecedented challenges, particularly in the areas of production and exports. The export turnover for the first five months of 2009 fell sharply compared to the same period last year, product categories such as rubber (-49%), crude oil (-44%), electric wire and cable (-41%) and pottery (-24%) are being hit hard.
