Jack Ma, founder of China's Alibaba Group, said on Wednesday that he hopes E-commerce will benefit more and more small businesses in the world. He made the remarks when addressing the Asia-Pacific Economic (APEC) 2015 CEO Summit. Ma said he hopes the E-commerce, including the Alibaba platform, will "influence more people" and "help more small businesses in the world", especially in developing countries. "What I'm interested in is how we can use this technology to influence more people, to help more small businesses in the world. If China can do it, why the other countries cannot? We have helped 12 million businesses, small businesses in particular, use our platform to sell goods online, to communicate with customers online. So we believe this model can work in oother countries as well as it does in China," he said. "Developing countries and small guys have not benefited enough from globalization. So what we should do? We should help more people, help more developing countries, help more small guys, young people, because if we don't do so, we'll get more and more disasters coming," Ma added. Ma appealed to the world economic organizations, such as the World Trade Organization (WTO), to offer more assistances to small businesses. "We should build a new e-WTO, or WTO 2.0. Over the past 20 years, the WTO has done it for big companies. In the next 20 years, we should use the WTO to support small guys," said Ma. China's E-commerce giant, Alibaba's Tmall online marketplace, reported a sale volume of 14.5 billion U.S. dollars during the Singles Day shopping spree (Nov. 11), 60-percent more than last year's, which was 8.1 billion U.S. dollars.
