Tonight (15th Sept. 16), on the radio in London UK they are actually talking about whether or not capitalism has run its course. We know capitalism has failed and there is increasing wealth inequality. I am no economist, but I think the UK government would do well to employ Professor Wolff as an advisor. The world is currently run by the greedy, for the greedy.

Well where is the QUALITY CONTROL THAT WOULD CONTROL THE LAWS AND MAKE THINGS EQUAL.
-
You cannot let money control the laws. Greed controls the poverty. When people are being killed in mass it makes people look richer but they are not.

Wolff points out that workers France, Italy, and Germany get the benefits gained by unions even if they aren't in the union, as if it's a good thing. But I thought this was considered a bad thing. People no longer have any reason to join the union and pay its dues, and so this weakens the unions. I forget where I heard this though.

Felicidades, un gran programa, saludos desde Mexico.

Thank you Richard for sharing.

Ghandi was a fraud. He preached pacifism, so the British could remain in power. During the first World War, he urged Indians to enlist in the British army. Baghat Singh was the person most responsible for India's independence...

If Long Island University locked out its educators, then the tuition-paying students should sue for a total reimbursement of their tuition!!! The cost of that litigation should bring the school to its knees.

If you think as I do that prof. Wolff deserves a wider audience, don't you think we all should nominate him for TED talks ?https://speaker-nominations.ted.com/

Time to join a Union!

the ONLY alternative to capitalism I could see working and actually saving the human race from causing it's own extinction is the Non monetary RBE system that is being advocated by the Venus project..it would basically turn the whole planet into one big cooperative system. Without doubt it's the best idea I have seen. ..The only 'uncertain' part about it for me is in the motivating people to do the work/jobs without money, otherwise there is absolutely no question in my mind that the world and the quality of life it would create for us all would be amazing.

If I remember correctly it was about 150 to 170 million workers on strike in India. ( the real news and rt media)
-
I did not hear mention of the ITT Tech issue, that would have worked well with the rest of the college talk.
-
Thank you for all you do Dr. Wolff!

If we put today's unemployed cleaning subways and fixing infrastructure it still wouldn't offset the unemployment caused by the coming technology. Just driverless cars alone will have massive impact once implemented. The question should be "what do we do with masses of people that aren't working?" Automation is increasing, everything that can be automated will be.

state capitalist/capitalist state

Get out and join a union, today!!

Defending capitalism, and hence the destruction and inequity that comes along with it, by saying it helped develop poor countries and brought millions out of poverty, is like defending slavery, because it brought millions of people out of poverty and built the most successful economic power (USA) in history.
-
