History is repeating. Predatory Capitalism is the root cause of our problems. FDR put safe guards in place and Clinton and Obama removed those safeguards. They unleashed the ravenous super rich old money and we get a global melt down because of extreme dishonest American Banksters and then we bailed those crooks out with public funds and did not prosecute one banker.

Yes. Harriet is wonderful. Love how she mentions Gloria Steinem's capitalistic role. Which Steinem herself is quoted, "they really should have kept that concealed". What I wanted to emphasize lately - it has hit me the mixing of classes that used to exist DOES NOT now. And this is key Harriet. You are CORRECT. Think on it more [for all of us]. It is KEY. Here.

Love this program. Keep up the great work so I can keep sharing on my FB. Also if you can expand on the description since I include it with my shares. thank you Prof Wolff for introducing me to Worker Cooperatives. I plan on starting one with my husband in the near future

I asked people who believe in coops or unions many times lots of questions, but I did not get an answer. Unions and Coops were going around for many years, and nothing changed. If something is better for the people sake, people should adopt it, but we did not, in fact the number of coops and unions are declining, and professor Wolff mentioned this a couple of times. Why is it? I know Walmart fire any employee who think about unions of want to organize one. And I guess professor Wolff does not work in a union. So, from the facts we saw so far, our first conclusion is: Unions and Coops are hard to establish, and people did not favor them in the past for some reason, this is why their numbers are decreasing.
I am NOT going to talk about how profitable these organizations are going to be, because this is questionable and I cannot see how a union or coop compete with other corporations who are not. So, lets assume for the sake of argument that the whole world is a full of unions and coops, even then, automation will destroy the need for labor as people awareness increase about their rights. Look at "amazon go" stores advertisement. that amazon plan to put around the country, and then the whole world!! No cashiers needed, and over time, no one will be needed. The same thing will happen to taxi drivers, its a matter of time computer will drive cars, and no driver will be required for such a job. So, your argument of coops and unions will not change much, and if it did, change will be very small. I would rather to put my effort into a huge change to lead the way to many under pain and suffer Americans. So, from the facts we saw so far, our second conclusion is: smart software will automate human labor activities in low level jobs and destroy the need for humans. As research continue, this will reach middle and high level jobs as well, in banks, decision making, medical and other services.
Professor Wolff should start with his ideas and work in a union or coop himself. I am NOT picking on him, but, if I want a clean energy I need to put a solar roof at least. So, I did not ask Wolff to quit his job, I just asked him to turn his work place into union. If this is too much to ask, then Wolff asking others for the same thing would be nonsense.
And No, I did not ask for revolution. I did ask for a planned economical crash. Though, this will lead into violence, sooner or later. THIS IS WHAT HISTORY TELL US. Also, history tell us that human rights are NOT given to people by peaceful movements, even if it started by one, it WILL turn into violence, not from the people side, but from the government side. Look at the middle east spring, it all started peaceful, though army got involved quickly. Trump will do the same thing, he is trying to save FEW jobs to make an argument that he saved the US economy, and may be get elected for a second term as president. Trump is planning to ban peaceful protests as well. God knows what is coming next, may be marshal law? curfew restriction hours? I am not sure. Though, I am sure that the WHOLE system is NOT working for the people best interest and a few TINY changes here and there won't make a difference.
I watched most Professor Wolff talks, in fact I search for any recording or place he lectures in. He knows economics. Though he does not have answers, and this is NOT of lack of knowledge. It is because we never been here before, and economics is an evidence based soft knowledge, not hard like science. So, it is all based on experiments, and believe me, people have no time for another social experiment. I wish I can contact him and give him my views, but he never reply my posts. Though, Wolff admitted that this system will crash, sooner or later, and it will be a outstanding. Why not contribute to that crash and force it to happen as quick as possible rather than assisting the government in keeping this economy flow while the pain and suffer continues. THINK ABOUT IT!! By helping people secure their taxi jobs, you sound like Trump saving few jobs for Carrier!! Correct?
Albert Einstein once said: No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it. Meaning to solve a problem from one level, you need to create a solution from a higher level. THINK OUT OF THE BOX. Rational economics does not make sense here, this is what Professor Wolff lack. He is stuck inside economics, which is mostly how to create an economy with high employment and growth, with minimum inflation. The Fed moved out of traditional monetary policies and printed 4.5 trillion dollars out of thin air. Watch a documentary called "money for nothing" and how Ben Bernanke created money without value. In such world, we need NEW economics laws, NEW models, NEW thinking. -

Seriously, Richard should have his own prime time television show. He actually makes sense. Which is way more than I can say about the jerks they have on t.v. right now, unless you consider "the view" informative. 😄 The view is a lot more informative than most shows though, so do not think I am mocking them, because at least they bring up some actual issues.

women respond to power, independent, and CONFIDENCE. Trump has those things in spades. A job interview is not much different from dating

Regarding Pope Francis - I share admiration of his messages and his personal image of modesty and humanism, his views on evironment and society are expressed in a way that has to be welcomed by any well intended oridnary citizen or intellectual, but - Vatican remains the wealhiest entitiy in the world with over 5000 billions $ of wealth, heavily invested in major corporations and a vital component of overfinancialized noeliberal system. Is he not just another nice face for the same dirty content like Obama or Blair, or Trudeau junior?

Richard, I enjoy your work and am happy this is being made available on YT. That having been said, I find it a bit disingenuous that you don't mention that Dr. Fraad is your wife (at least according to several online sources I've seen). It is a minor point when considered against all of the important issues you discuss, but it also plants a seed of doubt in the listener's mind about the program. Forgive me if you've mentioned this on the show before, but you haven't during the past few appearances that I've heard.
