Economics 101: Learning From Sweden's Free Market Renaissance
Economy | Information | History | Online | Facts | World | Global | Money
Sweden is a powerful example of the importance of public policy. The Nordic nation became rich between 1870 and 1970 when government was very small, but then began to stagnate as welfare state policies were implemented in the 1970s and 1980s. The CF&P Foundation video explains that Sweden is now shifting back to economic freedom in hopes of undoing the damage caused by an excessive welfare state. www.freedomandprosperity.org

The pissing your pants analogy is pure genius.

@ 4:13 "Number 4: Policies that supposedly help workers actually cause unemployment" Can you provide examples? And I am not talking about isolated cases. Please instantiate. Otherwise it reads as worthless verbiage

2:38 "it's like peeing in your pants. It first feels warm but then turns cold for a long period of time". lmao ))) Great analogy. I am sure a lot of people can relate hahah

This is some grade A++ propaganda
Everyone should google what the CF&P
"is an American nonprofit organization that advocates for flat taxes, territorial taxation systems, and offshore tax havens" thats from the wiki -
Same is true of education- Government should have no involvement in education. People should be free to educate their kids however they see fit. Education should be subject to the free market alone. Like with everything else subject to the free market, this increases quality and decreases prices through competition. I see this in the United States with health care and education especially. These are both often of low quality and high prices. You can blame the lack of free market competition for the lack of improvement and often further decline in these areas. Remove government and make people pay for these themselves and you force those people to shop around for these as they would with any other good or service. They look for the best prices and quality which forces providers of these goods and services to produce lower prices and higher quality. This forces them to operate more efficiently. Free market capitalism produces more responsible consumers, competition between providers of goods and services, efficiency in business practices of these providers, higher quality goods and services, and lower priced goods and services. Complete removal of government interference allows this to run at its fullest extent.

Forgot about currency- The government should not have a monopoly on currency. People should be free to choose whatever currency works best. If a currency is losing value, simply switch to a more stable form. Government should have no involvement.

I believe the only legitimate role of government is to protect the people and their rights and punish criminals who infringe on other people's rights. Basically, don't murder, rape, steal, commit fraud, etc. and the government should stay out of your life. The government protects against these few things through law enforcement, a judicial system, and a military. Everything else should be left to private people and businesses to decide for themselves. This is the extent to which government should grow. But, even then, these few legitimate roles should be constantly improved. Courts should be fair, efficient, and effective at even deterring crime to begin with. Law enforcement should be the same. Military should only be used 1) if your nation is attacked, 2) if a weaker country is invaded and asks for your assistance in repealing the invader, and/or 3) a country is severely oppressing their own people. Also, this military action must always be with a declaration of war. This acts as a deterrent and defense against governments seeking to attack you, conquer others, or oppress their own citizens. Outside of this, countries should stay out of the business of other countries. Individual people should be able to engage in free trade with one another domestically and internationally. Government should not restrict this. Government should not provide any welfare to people or businesses. People should be able to succeed or fall on their own. Of course, you can have voluntary support from others (charities, mutual aid groups, etc.), but no government involvement should take place. Regarding taxes, government should 1) eliminate all illegitimate roles of government while keeping taxes temporarily constant, 2) use that extra revenue to eliminate the government's debt, and 3) once these two things are accomplished, eliminate all taxes and replace them with a single flat consumption tax that is the same rate for everyone. Of course, I'm speaking from an American perspective. I don't know what changes would be necessary to differing nations from the United States. However, if a country following these sorts of limited government principles they would have an extremely free and prosperous nation.

Thank you for the explanation!

How come Bernie Sanders'policies are opposite of Sweden's economic policies?

Uhm, all the top management at CF&P actually works for Charles and David Koch

Because Sweden is best. fuck the rest of the world. framåt karoliner! denmark sucks my cock. i jizz on denmark´s king. he sucks my cock every day
-
The dismantling of the Swedish model is not saving Sweden from the 'welfare state' but is eroding the sense of solidarity and nation building that created such a prosperous nation initially. This is nothing but Free Market propaganda.

I live in Scotland, and I know plenty of people living in my country with absolutely no clue about economics. No, the kind of state you have, depends between Capitalism (individualism) and Collectivism. That's what it comes down to. Doesn't come down to the wealth. The wealth derives from Capitalism. Absolutely nothing to do with Socialism and the history has proven it.

What you really want is a lot in the middle, a middle class, and thats the trick of politics.
-
I live in Sweden and i know in dept what is going on in my country. And now for politics 101. The party that Controls the center win the Power. That mrans that if the left move to the right, they will win elections and if the right move to the left they will also win elections. The kind of state you have depends on how rich your population is. To many poor people means they ant protection from circumstanses, Welfare. To many rich people means they want peotection from poor people, police.
