FT, we do know that this is just one side of the story. You show the projects in the capital city addis abeba yet the majority of Ethiopians who are out of addis live in much worst condition than being reported here. There is genocide of thousands of AMHARA and Anuak people, journalist are imprisoned, we have the worst human right record in the world thanks to the dead melese and his stooges. This is the only gov in Africa that is build based on ethnic lines and group..it is the most barbaric system to live in, an 18 th century divide and rule, Albanian style socialism....one party rule.....all other opposition silences by the gun....and you call that PROGESS? you must be in the business of MIS-INFORMATION.

I think it's interesting that China is going to Ethiopia to to hire cheap labor. I didn't know it was cheaper to manufacture there than in China. But the same problems persist;
business people are getting cheap manufacturing but the people that do that work and the community around them is living sub par. Although part of that tends to be because of a countries bad government also -
Somaliland whiches you all the best. Ethiopia is an example to the rest of the continent Mashallah.

Yes opening up the market to wealthy international investors will only enrich developed countries not Ethiopia. Prime examples are all countries in Africa that have invited foreign investors and as a result the locals' standard of living has stagnated since the 70s

I really hope the goverment keeps the economy off forign invasion driven by the WTO and World Bank. Else we become like Kenya or Southafrica - lots of rich and bling, but the real people poorer than ever.

Great move Ethiopia. Now they only have to raise up the minimum wage and print " MADE IN ETHIOPIA" that way the world will recognize the leather production comes from Ethiopia not china!
