Speaker(s): Professor Paul Collier Chair: Dr Jonathan Leape Recorded on 4 November 2013 in Old Theatre, Old Building. Mass international migration is a response to extreme global inequality, and immigration has a profound impact on the way we live. Yet our views - and those of our politicians - remain caught between two extremes: popular hostility to migrants and 'open doors' insistence by liberal and business elites. Collier takes a balanced look at the possibilities and challenges of migration for societies of origin and host countries, to enable us all, including policy-makers, understand how much migration is best. Paul Collier is Professor of Economics and Public Policy at the Blavatnik School of Government at Oxford University and a former director of Development Research at the World Bank. He is the author of, among others, the award-winning The Bottom Billion and The Plundered Planet. This event marks the launch of his new book, Exodus: How Migration Is Changing Our World.

What is a driving the migration is zionist elites who want to destroy white countries because they stand in their way of world domination.

I disagree about the country size as determining the level of emigration. India is a good example. You see a lot of brain drain if you look up trends of Indian migrants to the US, UK, etc. I'm sure there are more factors than the largeness or smallness of a country that shape the flow of migrants going in and leaving.

The facts are that London does not have an housing crisis but an immigration crisis - For what London house prices are probably going to do over the next 3 years (2016-2018) see - https://youtu.be/yQJIB7AuqRQ

After Equilibrium, you see collapse even with the slightest of the disturbances.

I know this is going seem like an obnoxious YouTube comment (and perhaps it is) but the amount of times Collier says "ehm" is incredibly distracting. All professors should watch tape of themselves and correct for ticks like this.

It's the Fabians who run LSE who engineered the immigration free-for-all in the first place. Fuck you, Fabians. We're onto you.

I am glad that I have been given the opportunity to hear what an expert has to say about what is usually an emotive subject on which people pontificate without knowing the facts.
