This interview is great, I laughed out loud, and three seconds later it dawned on me the seriousness of the poor record of the education system, the government's interference in lives and Obama's damning legacy of debt, poor business acumen and regulatory strangulation. I look forward to see what Trump will do ....

I love when Thomas answers a questions and then pauses because he thinks it's so ridiculous and obvious he wants to give you a second to giggle to yourself.

That was a good read and a nice highlight of some of the examples from the book. Sowell is totally right about teachers in public schools getting kids that are barely 10 to take political sides. I am so glad he continues to write on many occasions.

An indictment of our times, that a man as humble and wise and Thomas Sowell is pleased that he won't be around for much longer.

With regard to his first point, does anyone know if there is a city which had rent control and then later abolished it? That would be very interesting for seeing the affect on the affordability of housing.

So, does this Iran deal qualify as a point of no return?

Destroys the BS race card "tool." Its employed as a tatic to divide the population, its used as a tatic to avoid our responsibilities. There are more but this interview was so simple yet complex to think just how deep this nonsense has gone.

The real problem is not the social programs but rather lays squarely with those that make those programs a lifestyle. When those programs are there to temporarily help those while they improve their lot in life. Those that choose the bottom rung as a life style will always play the victim card

I have a 16yr old boy in the house. He has no homework, and cant write in longhand. Questioning reveals he is learning nothing, and has no prospec for learning anything. My opinion is the system is ruined.I dont know why.

Housing prices in Vegas remind me of housing prices in Ct., so you were saying....?

Amen Brother Sowell. I ain't in love with this world either. Evil is in ascendancy and I do believe that we are headed for World War 3 just as predicted by Albert Pike the 33rd degree Freemason that speaks of his worship of Lucifer in his book Morals and Dogma. Our world is controlled by the hidden hand of secret societies and at the head of every one of the secret societies there sits a Talmudic Kabbalah practicing Jew.

I almost choked up and cried at 28:00 . Just beautiful.

if men physicians are working 500 more hours a year than women than we should do a survey to ask the women if its what they want or if they are being pressured and the male employees are given the hours and thus the more money? i wonder if sowell thought of that.

Why in HELL are we stuck with either Trump or Hillary when we have this man??? Put him on a ticket with Bill Nye and I would, quite seriously, pay to vote for them.

Dr. Thomas Sowell destroys imaginary worlds with the bombs of words and numbers. Amazing.

One of the most brilliant minds of our time. Yes, thank you so much for posting these videos.

Sowell does not seem to know about and certainly does not talk about the fact of unearned income known to trained economists as "economic rent" which is estimated to be 40+% of GNP. Unearned income which in layman's terms is the private pocketing of economic values one does not oneself create is the historic root cause of the disparity of income/wealth. It starts with ownership of land and natural resources and in the modern era includes other legal monopolies such as patents, copy rights and the privilege of banks to charge interest on money they create out of thin air, below market renting of publicly owned land and the electromagnetic spectrum to name the major culprits. And since ownership of the assets, privileges and subsidies that give rise to unearned incomes are virtually monopolized by a tiny percent of people at the top of the economic heap this explains why progress and technological advances in the modern era but actually in all times and places does not benefit everyone. I am not talking about equality of outcomes I am talking about the promised effect that is supposed to raise all boats from free market capitalism. Unearned income and the mechanism which siphons wealth from the bottom to the top is not free market but a form of theft. Sowell's views on the depressing effect of regulation of housing construction and race are valid but his failure to mention the historical root cause of the disparity of wealth which is also the root cause of poverty amid progress and plenty seems more than a bit disingenuous. As a trained economist he has to know about economic rent and the extent of unearned incomes but since no one calls him on it, not even the political Left which is also apparently ignorant, he and his ilk have safely spun their tired ideology about the sanctity of so-called free markets and the evils of government interference in the market. To be sure governments interfere in markets but they do so because the system of unearned income/economic rent prevents it from working beyond a mediocre degree.
