G7 commits to 'no carbon economy' by 2100

Marrisa Semkiw of TheRebel.media reports: Today, world leaders wrapped up their annual two-day G7 summit in Germany, where they committed to a no-carbon economy by 2100. Maybe by then, the global economy will have completely shifted away from fossil fuels and onto wind and solar energy. But if that happens, it will have been because of technological advancement, not because some politicians made a statement in Germany in 2015. LOL 2100 is way too late. We need to commit to this by 2050 and one of the things a lot of people don't think about is our meat and dairy consumption, which is a significant contributor to global warming. Commit to alternate fuels and a vegan/vegetarian/low meat consumption diet, and we'll achieve it much earlier.

These politicians don't mind looking stupid in history books as long as they get to feel good today.

Empty political pie-in-the-sky promises? Then why has China already closed 1000 coal mines and cut their emissions by a volume larger than what the entire United Kingdom generated in the first four months of this year?
-
my carbon footprint is gone when I die...way before 2100....YOU CAN'T GET GREENER THAN "NO KIDS".
-
Y2100 is 75 years from now?...and the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor...you were on a roll Marissa so we'll let it go :-)

Yeah i don't see the end of oil unless there are some innovations. Gasoline being a fairly inelastic product and all, not to mention petrochemicals, as it stands now they'd have to seize control of the economy to make this happen (god help us). Total elimination of carbon emissions is a fantasy on a marxist level.

This is clearly being lead by Barry, and that closet socialist that runs Germany. Why deal with real problems like debt in the Southern E.U countries, Russian aggression, or the Middle East and Northern Africa going up in flames when you can commit to doing something 85 years from now? 85 years from now not only will you no longer be on office, but you will have long since been dead and buried, so lets just keep those three cups moving and hope nobody notices that you palmed the pea.

Bring back the family. End industrial farming. Open up land for small self sustaining farming comunities. Bring back God and learn to live more humbly and the environment will take care of itself!

60 years ago my grandparents finally were able to get rid of their unreliable windmill and batteries that used to power their home. It did not create enough power, it was not reliable, and it was expensive. Other than the batteries getting more efficient and the windmills bigger... Nothing has changed!!! Unless a NEW technology comes out, we have to use gas, oil, hydro, coal, and nuclear. Unless you start breeding horses, milking your own cows, canning all the food you need for the winter in summer, etc.. Know a good blacksmith? Lol

Lol, Harper must have done a lot of lip biting and finger crossing and silent eye rolling to pretend to be with all those socialist anti-science anti liberty hacks.

The hills are alive with sound of bs.
Got admit - it was beautiful scenery. -
I hope that finally this comedy of fighting climate change is over. The G7 leaders decided that they have enough of talking about climate, so they pushed solving the issue to infinity. Yes, 85 years is infinity. In 50 years society will be talking about climate warming issue of today the same way as we are talking about climate cooling issue of 50 years ago. Global warming alarmist attitude is like every other fad; it will go away and will be looked at in the future as a silly behavior, but one that made fortunes for some.

Aren't humans made of carbon?
-
Last I checked, most of my groceries are carbon based. What's next?
-
We are carbon based lifeforms, its' one of the natural constituents of the planet's cycle of life that is intrinsic for life. This is code talk for depopulation.

SCAM SCAM to kill North American economy

Burning fossils fuels for over the past 100 years is old technology, we should have moved past that years ago. I don't think it really matters anymore, we are past the threshold. No matter what we do the world will continue to get hotter and hotter

how dare you speak that way aboot Harper engaging in warmthless, feelgood statements...i enjoyed his enthusiasm in the video :3
you ask how any politician can commit to something 75 years from now?
well, that's one of the things some of us humans are trying to figure out how to do -- think long term rather than short term -- like The Long Now foundation and The World Economic Forum...stuff that R Buckminster Fuller brought to the public eye...
taking a look at what actually is, like risk assessments, resource management, technology, and then planning for a term longer than just your term of office
maybe, maybe the politicians will even get to a point where they will actually be able to focus on doing their job for their whole term, rather than spending too much of their term working to get re-elected? alas, we no longer live in a world where a state can do anything they want with no repercussions -- we are in a relentlessly interconnected world of increasing complexity...and we are having to deal with that, somehow...
