Is UPSC CSE really Merit based? Do they consider good profile candidates only?
I was just going through the profiles of those who made it. I see a trend :-
1.People from Govt institutions are large in numbers.
2.High worth individuals (as per the institute only) are more
they make it because of their good profile or is it because of their true intrinsic quality.
I do not understand as how someone who is from good professional institute like IIT and IIM can also be equally good at writing answers of ARTS subjects like sociology, history etc. I feel there are people who can give tough competition to them but still i do not see any candidate from "not so known college/university making it to UPSC. Is UPSC CSE scripted. No matter what you write , they know who to select and whom to reject/ignore. Has it been purely merit based i am sure we would have seen some miracles in UPSC CSE results but till now its the same old thing. High worth Individuals (on the basis of their Alma Mater, Work Exp) make it big here. I have also heard these people say that we prepared only for 4-5 months and we made it . This makes me ponder more over the scripted nature of this Exam. Now nobody can say anything against UPSC because 1. we do not have evidence, 2. The likelihood of these students clearing UPSC is more so nobody would doubt and raise a question on the legitimacy of these candidates but something is fishy here as someone who is good at technical or management or any particular subject may not be equally good UPSC subjects. I am considering the fact that these people are hard working and dedicated but so are others who are serious but why such students are not seen in the UPSC merit ever. Are these "other students" working hard in vain. My hypothesis is based on approx 200 profiles which i have seen till now. -
