Yes capitalism is ending.
It frightens me more than it relieves me since I know that war is something the world will face soon enough. And I don't mean small local wars. We live in a globalist capitalist system its demise will be global as well.
This global aspect is what evaporated my long time reluctance to believe that this time it was really over. Let me explain, at the dawn of WW2 many foresaw the end of capitalism in Europe and therefore to the rest of the thus decolonized world. It almost got there. The capitalists were as weak as the communist movement was strong and they had no more money for the clean reconstruction and the immense concessions in social services that we witnessed here in Europe as a fail safe that managed to maintain private property of the means of production (capitalism) in the hands of the bourgeoisie. What happened then was that Western Europe's capitalism got bailed out by the US, with its occupation of it along with its financing of all those concessions and the much needed reconstruction (the Marshall plan). The same happened in Japan btw, although I do not know how much of a threat the communists (USSR included) were to the Japanese bourgeoisie, the fact that the US hurried with the bomb indicates to me that it wasn't negligible.
Without this explained as I did, only witnessing the rebirth of capitalism in Europe when it seemed doomed I was under the impression that capitalism had the ability and flexibility to recycle itself into social democracy at will thus creating a cycle of fascism/imperialism into war into social democracy into rabid capitalism etc... Today however, there can be no external aid to global capitalism, by definition. No external force can bail the world when it crashes into disarray. There is no salvation for a system of private property of the means of production like I used to think. It has exhausted all possibilities. We keep demanding the return to social democracy but there is clearly no bone left to throw the people, and we know the bourgeoisie isn't going to do it as it didn't after WW2 either, and even if they were to try, they will try when it is too late and people are already smelling blood. The system is doomed and has a few decades of it left. I'm 30, I'll get to participate and witness in the process...
As frightened as I may be however, I find comfort in knowing that after the horrible global war that will come as a last resort of individual imperialist (capitalist) nations to survive, dooming global capitalism even faster, will see socialism emerge victorious and with it democracy (dictatorship of the proletariat that is) and the birth of world healthy society and finally of this planet that is in great need of that, especially after such a war. -
I was pleased to hear Richard D Wolff say that he thinks he is watching the end of Capitalism. Of course he is. I am surprised to discover that he took so long to realise it. We all are. Its the end of a failed system. Why? Because it was based upon a lie. A Ponzi scheme from the very getgo. What happens now? The truth? NOBODY KNOWS - but it will not be resurrected that's for sure. Capitalism is a FAILURE as a system of governance. Civil unrest? Very likely. Probably more violent in the USA than the UK. I look forward to the challenges it presents.

Wolff, you made me smile when you dropped that Lenin quote.
-
Do you have any idea when delegations will be going to Mondragon and Cuba, 2 places I am very interested in. Will reports by the delegations be made available publicly.
-
This sounds more like communist, progressive, and socialist thinking. When there is a lack of morals no type of government will survive. Mike
-
I got all warm and fuzzy when he quoted Vladamir Lenin towards the end : ) them feels though.

If someone wants to be truly enlightened, they need to watch Wolff's monthly updates.

Came on to this video rather skeptically as its becoming increasingly difficult to find good and reliable independent media/information. I was pleasantly surprised though, great lecture covering important issues with humour and wit that need to be discussed.

Richard is simply wrong that the Remain campaign argued that voting with them would bring 'riches and fame'. The argument was that while not entirely great, staying in the EU would be economically more efficient, and keep Britain at the decision-making table for the single-market instead of having to abide by its rules for access from the outside. Further, the main argument for Leave was not to 'make Britain great again', but rather that remaining in the EU would limit British sovereignty, and that the fees for membership could be allocated to domestic projects. Unlike in America, in the UK politicians actually make rigorous, largely verified and consistent arguments, and shy away from empty slogans.
