Global Collapse is Certain for One Unknown Reason, Farming is the Answer. Many people look at our national debt and also our trade imbalances and they assume, rightfully so, that the USA will eventually have an economic collapse. There are many economic forecasters who as predicting a currency collapse, especially of the US dollar. But the single greatest factor that. will set about a worldwide economic collapse is global climate. We are heading into a mini-ice-age. It is not climate change caused by greenhouse gases or man-made activities or the burning of fossil fuels, but a cyclical lowering of the solar output of the sun. There is a long-term pattern of changes in the solar activity of the sun whereby the earth naturally goes thru warm climate phases and the co;d climate phases. Currently we are heading into a cold climate phase. A much colder climate will vastly affect the growing season of crops and greatly diminish the amount of food available for the earth's population. This will in turn cause food prices to skyrocket and that will lead to less disposable income for people to spend on goods in the retail sector and spend on cars, furniture and other larger items. In short, global cooling will also lead to a cooling in most sectors of the global economy except in agriculture (food production) and energy, due the need for heating and demands of farming.

syyenergy7, with all the overwhelming evidence for global warming, what in the world makes you think we will experience an ice age anytime soon?

You can not look at individual events as a way to predict future trends but that said there are reasons why the eastern part of America is seeing such large snow amounts and record colds and it has absolutely nothing to do with the earth cooling. It is actually just the opposite. It is because of the earth heating up. It is the temperature gradiant between the equatorial region and the arctic that controls the jet stream. When this temperature difference lessens as it has been because the arctic is heating faster than the lower latitudes, the jet stream slows and begins to meander and dip farther south allowing colder air to also dip farther south. You can look at regions and say it proves your case but look at the entire planet and it is heating up not cooling down. I live in the midwest and if you lived hear you wouldn't question whether things are hotter. The gas company here has a break down on your monthly bill of your usage this month, last month, and what is was over the same 30 day period last year. They also list the avg. temp. for each category and this February was 9° warmer than last February. I say this not to prove global warming but to show that while your region might be colder or have bigger snows than the norm but my area is warmer so a person must look at global temps.

Also, cornflakes cost 4 dollars CDN (I am in Canada) My grocery bill is not enormous by American standards. Not everything said on the Internet is true. However, to repeat, I agree with your general thrust (especially the connection between food production and, well, chaos).
-
In regard to your understanding of snow, I live in Canada... you're from Florida, right? Mammoth snowfalls occur (actually all snowfalls) when temperatures RISE. Moisture in the sky produces snow. Precipitation is a function of temps rising. So heavy snows (eg Boston) are evidence of global warming. But let's not quibble as I agree: expecting things to continue as usual is completely nuts: imagine predicting the future sitting in 1916... you'd be crazy to think things would continue as "normal."

imo, unless your farm is so isolated as to be not findable, then, knowing human nature, in a potential erosion of societal norms due to climate (or another kind of) chaos, you'll be overrun. A good case study is Argentina, a Western industrial nation which really did collapse, in 2001. Crime, unsurprisingly, went sky high.

The wobble in the earth's rotation is causing it. 23 degrees off center, 25 thousand years to complete it.

I also disagree that people don't have anything to do with climate change. People have much to do with what is going on today concerning Earths' climate!!!!
-
What you are discussing is climate change. Where do you get your information that there is going to be a mini ice age? I have not heard this anywhere else. In regards to agriculture, it's important to raise as much of your own food as you can. We all need to learn to become self-sufficient. You are also talking about EMPs. This could be a likely scenario. Prepare for the most likely events including the climate changes, possible economic collapse, EMP, CME, and normal disasters which can occur in your region. Your video is disjointed but your points are valid, except for the ice age theory.

The Canadian dollar is just a bit below the USD. The horrendous prices are in Nunavut because everything is flown in in the winter. In good weather things are brought in by boat. Get the facts.

I agree with the idea of local economy and growing food everywhere we can. The problem with a collapse is that desperately hungry people are going to wherever they think they will be able to find food, so if you are a farmer then you better have an army to protect your farm and you will need to be able to feed that army. Frankly, I just don't think farmers are going to be sticking around their farms anymore than police and firemen will be going to work as usual. It all spirals down very quickly.

Them that have the money, will hire a big gun to take your corn and turnips.

I have had large and small gardens over the last 40 years. Anyone can grow some food. Start small with containers, styro coolers are great containers because they are modular. Cheep at the Dollar store or free along the road. Use quality potting soil, feed with Miracle Gro. Get tips from "Square Foot Gardening". Plant different types of plants in the same container to maximize area. Have good drainage. You can do it.

I would really love to have a non electrical car, like an old Datsun, land cruiser, or even an old sturdy vw bug. I have an intuitive feeling that there will probably be another Carrington event solar storm probably 2020 - 2035 or something. I think people would probably get electrocuted and there will be huge fires when it hits. Pretty catastrophic, I hope nuclear powerplants don't turn into another chernobyl or fukushima. But I'm mostly worried about polluted water and pandemics. I live near the Grand Canyon and its a very low population area.
