Global Economy Risks Slowing Down The global economy is at risk of slowing down, leading to an uncertain global growth outlook. The IMF’s latest forecast, which has been released in its "world economic outlook", saw it move its 2016 projection down from 3.4 to 3.2 percent. International Monetary Fund, IMF chief economist Maurice Obstfeld made the remarks on Tuesday on the sidelines of the annual spring meetings of the IMF and World Bank in Washington, D.C. The fund pointed to factors such as the slowdown in China, weak commodity prices and prosperous countries still shaking off the effects of the financial crisis. Obstfeld added that global growth could easily weaken from the latest IMF forecasts which could reinforce a deflationary spiral of weak growth that erodes future output potential.
