Globalization II - Good or Bad?: Crash Course World History #42
Economy | Information | History | Online | Facts | World | Global | Money
In which John asks whether globalization is a net positive for humanity. While the new global economy has created a lot of wealth, and lifted a lot of people out of poverty, it also has some effects that aren't so hot. Wealth disparity, rising divorce rates, environmental damage, and new paths for the spread of disease. So does all this outweigh the economic benefits, the innovation, and the relative peace that come with interconnected economies? As usual, the answer is not simple. In this case, we're living in the middle of the events we're discussing, so it's hard to know how it's going to turn out. "economical dependent world is much less likely to go to war" wouldn't it be more likely? Lets say that country A is dependent on country B for squibs. Country B finds they can earn more money selling blobs instead of squibs. Squibs then become too costly as fewer people are willing to produce them. Companies that depend on cheap squibs start to go out of business. Country A has to chose between forcing country B to continue making squibs or face mass unemployment. I would think that globalization makes the economy more volatile and unstable. Once the economy becomes unstable, it breaks down into a world war. All these countries are dependent on each other, but few share the same fate and share the same pain.

Political globalization is a direct path to One World Government.
Our society isn't mature enough for that, yet.
Our constitution has started to devolve into this:
Right to free speech-- except when it offends someone
Right to bear arms-- except when it's anything that can harm anyone
Right to privacy-- except when it slows down law enforcement
Right to fair trial-- except when it slows down law enforcement
So, I'm on high alert.
All sovereign nations are at risk for hijacking under 'globalization'.
We don't want your rapefugees.
We don't want your socialist tax rates.
We don't want your white guilt and feminazism.
We don't want your disarmament.
We don't want to give money to Greece.
We don't want an E.U. Army.
We don't want political globalization. -
I didn't like "ABUNDANCE OF KATHERINES" :/

this is a really dumb video, your other videos on competing economic systems more accurately showed the benefits of both but this video is pretty much just talking about how great capitalism is and ignoring the extreme poverty still shown in capitalist countries, or other issues with capitalism and globalization

"The marxist utopia failled"... erm... if you are referring to the Soviet Union that was the furthest from a Marxist utopia. It was fascism disguised as communism. For Marxism to work it must be voluntary. As soon as it's imposed it's a dictatorship, not a "marxist utopia"! That's why successful Marxism ideology is unlikely to ever exist in the form of a national state and is better suited for organizations that allow members to join/leave as they wish, such as cooperatives. There are plenty of successful examples of cooperatives, which are much fairer organizations than corporations, in my humble opinion.

John Green, I love you man! I love your biases and the way you reveal them!
-
Both Hugo and Fidel are dead now. How much has changed in 4 years that the last communist socialist leaders have both passed away since the making of this video?
-
Wrong! Wrong! Wrong! If I got to kill a chicken every time I went to KFC I would go to KFC MORE OFTEN!

"I'm very bias towards Canada and it's awesome healthcare system"
Ummm what? Their healthcare system is notoriously bad. It serves one good purpose and that is not sending you a huge bill when you use the ER (BTW you don't have to pay that bill in the US either, but it's kinda fucked up if you don't).Besides that, it's a disaster, you will not get treatment in time, it takes an insanely long time to just get a primary physician, and if you need a transplant, you'd be better off going to the black market. -
r.i.p fidel great man. I can't think of a better political leader, maybe lenin

Globalization doesn't seem too bad.

Rewatched this week and at the end here you ask whether the economic displacement and disparity in America is worth the increased prosperity abroad, and I was wondering if there were any other thoughts on this question in the wake of the recent election?
