Guy McPherson - Human Extinction within 10 years

Guy McPherson: "I can't imagine there will be a human on the planet in 10 years" Humans are heading for mass extinction. Mankind has less then 10 years left according to climate change scientist Guy McPherson on World Newshub. There's no point trying to fight climate change - we'll all be dead in the next decade and there's nothing we can do to stop it, a visiting scientist claims. Guy McPherson, a biology professor at the University of Arizona, says the human destruction of our own habitat is leading towards the world's sixth mass extinction. Instead of fighting, he says we should just embrace it and live life while we can. "It's locked down, it's been locked in for a long time - we're in the midst of our sixth mass extinction," he told Paul Henry on Thursday. But Professor James Renwick, a climate scientist at Victoria University, says people should not use his words more as an excuse to give up. Govt appoints experts to tackle NZ's climate change problems While he agrees that climate change is possibly the "biggest issue humanity has ever faced", he says "giving up is not really helpful". Instead, Prof Renwick says he hopes Prof McPherson's 10-year claim will encourage people to take action. "This is a really big issue and the consequences could be catastrophic," Prof Renwick says. "Though certainly [humans won't all die off] in 10 years or even 1000 years." The effects of climate change were first noticed 30 years ago and Prof Renwick says the sooner we get onto working against it, the less there will be to do. "I'd love to see [people] take it on board as it is a very serious issue." Prof McPherson's comments come just days after Climate Change Issues Minister Paula Bennett appointed a 10-strong team to advise the Government on how New Zealand can adapt to climate change. National Geographic exhibition displays global climate change But if the visiting professor is right, it could all be a waste of time. "I can't imagine there will be a human on the planet in 10 years," he says. "We don't have 10 years. The problem is when I give a number like that, people think it's going to be business as usual until nine years [and] 364 days." He says part of the reason he's given up while other scientists fight on is because they're looking at individual parts, such as methane emissions and the melting ice in the Arctic, instead of the entire picture. "We're heading for a temperature within that span that is at or near the highest temperature experienced on Earth in the last 2 billion years." Instead of trying to fix the climate, Prof McPherson says we should focus on living while we can. "I think hope is a horrible idea. Hope is wishful thinking. Hope is a bad idea - let's abandon that and get on with reality instead. Let's get on with living instead of wishing for the future that never comes. NZ takes home 'Fossil of the Day' awards at Marrakech climate conference "I encourage people to pursue excellence, to pursue love, to pursue what they love to do. I don't think these are crazy ideas, actually - and I also encourage people to remain calm because nothing is under control, certainly not under our control anyway." New Zealand has been criticised by the international community for not doing enough to fight climate change - this month being awarded two Fossil of the Day awards at the UN Climate Change Conference in Marrakech. The awards are for the country's failure to live up to climate promises and the continued use of "dodgy" carbon credits.

There is one thing I find annoying. People like him are probably right, but all the people that say that are really old. Now stay with me. I am a 12 year old but have a great mind and insight into matters like this. Lots of problems come from the US and the banking System, by that I mean the Ira and the Fed Reserve. All of the people that have caused these problems didn't know what they were doing and it is no fault of their own. They were played by the rich officials. The generation I live in are very smart, we have learnt from the mistakes the elderly made. Children know how to use tech and we are the first generation who understand the current Situation. I am still very young and have alot to learn, if we can hold on until new minds come along then maybe there is hope. And hope is not just wishful thinking. All the people who caused the problems are old and we're testing the water back in the day. The bad minds who are the problem can't last that long. For example in the UK regardless of your political view you were duped. David Cameron was selfish by saying he would hold a referendum, he only said that so that he could be in power. "They'll never leave" he said, but what do you know. And as soon as the vote went the wrong way for him he got scared and ran out of office. He plunged the UK into toil and has just left the mess for someone else. That is typical. Now he is retired and couldn't care less. Don't be selfish and think about what you do. Don't be narrow minded. I dont know what the point of this comment is but I just had to bring that up.

climate change has been proven false. This is to create fear among humans and the agenda of the New World Order. I don't consider this as the end of all human life. Knock this crap over to China and Mexico or to the countries that are still poising the earth. Planet and humans will still be here when the crappy NWO gets destroyed.

This reminds me of the movie "When Worlds Collide" circa 1951 or so... where no one would believe the doomsayers ...cool movie.

HAHAHA----love the impression in the face of the guy, sitting next to the woman---The "Am I really hearing this?!%$§!!!!!"---------
Yes, Sir-You do!----------------------2017----------HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
I agree we are screwed, but I believe it will be longer than 10yrs.
I hope. -
He mentioned how privileged he was at one point "look at us" he says. But lets not stop short when it comes to invisible privilege. This Guy's mommy and daddy sent this clown to grad school, and he entered the workforce at a time when that degree was a golden ticket. With all that he ends up 55 years old, unemployed, no family, and no noteworthy accomplishments.
Seems to me this guy never applied himself, and now he's doing his best to prevent young people from applying themselves. This Guy is the embodiment of the real social challenges facing young people in the west. I think it could be the fact that his generation never had a challenge of their own to overcome. Maybe it was a threat of nuclear Armageddon that damaged them, but 60s kids generally seem to be cynical, self-centered, and immature. I'd suggest studying Guy's pretentious smirk and guarding yourself around anyone wearing the same.
The science is not behind this guy. The high end for the current climate models are 9 degrees Fahrenheit and a wetter climate. Doesn't sound to bad to me. I'm sure there will be challenges but what would life be without them. We need new ways to grow food, but we also have the possibility to bring fresher healthier food to our tables. And, as much as i love cars, I'm looking forward to more sustainable and more livable neighborhoods designed around community and not the automobile.
Not to sound like a hippie or anything... :-) -
This guy obviously has anxiety issues.

Am going to go have a bit of fun explaining to alt right and Zionists why supremacy is now obsolete. Triggering will be pure entertainment as their neurons get knotted in their knickers.

One comforting fact is that technology is advancing like crazy as well... Not saying that technology could save our species, but there is at least some hope...

That climate is changing around the world is a fact. What is causing this particular Earth climate change is speculation. Why can we no longer reproduce? As all great nations face a fertility crisis, such is the extinction riddle of humanity. it is at long last answered by a Poet. http://exposingglobalextinction.blogspot.com/2015/07/sex-lies-and-fertility-monsters-part-1.html

Does anyone here want to make a large bet with me? I say humans are still around in the billions in 10 years from 2016.
How about a bet of 100K USD just for fun :) Anyone? -
i agree just give up....scientists have been warning us for over 30 years about this shit, you really think people(you)will give a fuck?
-
Hahahahaha thats what AL Gore said over 10 years ago.

people forget the nuclear plants, which will explode if they are not overlook all the time and will poison the planet.

Alright.

It's not that he's alarmist, it's that the news is alarming. I don't think I could live in a world with no birds anyway. http://www.abc.net.au/radionational/programs/earshot/climate-of-emotion:-despair/7880378
