Some of what is discussed in this video is true but these days the low cost model isn't hard and fast. Take easyJet. They use slot constricted airports such as CDG. They operate massively in LGW which is also slot constricted......and even has aspirations to operate into LHR when a new runway is actually built.
Budget carriers also often use jetways, with the probable exception of Ryanair. Many airports don't charge for the use of jetways and where they do it is minimal. The reason why jetways aren't particularly popular amongst low cost airlines is that it is a slower method of boarding. That is why when they are used, there will often be steps used at the rear door. Ryanair's argument meanwhile is that it specified integral steps on it's front door which adds weight and if they are spending extra fuel carting these steps around europe all day then they damn well want to use them.
Staff training. Low cost crew will be trained in safety in a similar manner to other crew. Not all crew will be at the start of their flying career. The fact that low cost crews make it back to base every night (basically in your own bed every evening) they are generally popular carriers for those who have done long haul and are tired of being away from home. So there can be plenty of experience in with the younger and more fresh faced flyers. Also, due to being more productive plus commission on sales, low cost carrier crews are actually reasonably well paid when compared to crew at the legacy airlines on the newer generation contracts. i.e British Airways' mixed fleet contract.
Finally, low cost carriers' fleet do indeed work hard during the day but certainly within Europe, most aircraft are put to bed by midnight with no US style 'red eyes' operated. The reason for this is similar to the reason for offering no connections. The low cost airline wants to draw a line under its flying day at the end of that day and don't want it merging into the next days flying programme. Not to mention the intense flying programme during the day requires TLC time over night. -
good one

Loads say that Ryanair is bad but it isn't that bad

That's PDX Portland at 3:30 with an Alaska Airlines 737-8 type aircraft. PDX is by all standards, an Alaska hub. Would Alaska be a budget airline? They operate small planes such as the 737 family (mainly the 8 series), possibly MD-80s (possibly because they might be retired due to a crash), new Embraer E-jets and flights to Anchorage, Alaska, Kahului, Hawaii and flights all over the country, I don't think so but you might be able to clarify. Oh yeah. They also fly Q400s. I almost forgot about this. It's a twin engine turboprop plane that looks like an ant next to an A380

Lol Ryanair ending up like Emirates

What's the idea of ice in an aeroplane lavatory at 2.53 & 2:55? Nice to see Ryanair in Dublin airport

Wow, how times change! I flew Easyjet as a brand new airline in Feb 1997 - a Boeing 737, one of their fleet of 6 secondhand aircraft. The pilot on the return trip to Liverpool was so new, he experienced ground effect trying to land and got halfway down the runway before dumping heavily onto the ground. The Easyjet literature was all about new business plan, certification, business plan for their proud little fleet. Their business plan was much as described in this vid though. Since then, Liverpool airport expanded massively under Easyjet patronage, and now uses airbridges and has its own maintenance hangar.

Wait, why doesn't Ryanair fly to Heathrow and Charles de Gaulle, but the fly to Amsterdam? Damn....
-
Easyjet actually has the 737-700
-
JetBlue only operates A320/321 and Embraer 190s

Banking yeah unfortunately product both quest wilderness.

Whatchu talking about? Spirit airline ain't cheap.

Quite a good video, but misses a few crucial points:
1. Ryanair and Easyjet were set up after their founders ( Stelios Hajiounnou for EasyJet, and Leary for ryanair- though the ryans are still in the picture soemwhere) looked at Southwest Airlines in the US in some detail. So budget airlines are atually an american invention. (I'm a Brit so this isn't bragging!)
2. The use of load factoring software is CRUCIAL, the price of a ticket can vary enormously depending when you buy it. All lo-cost carriers invest heavily in software that maximises ticket sales revenue.
3. The actual flying barely breaks even even after all the tricks you've mentioned, the profit actually come from the on-board retailing, sandwiches are extremly expensive as are drinks like coffee and tea. That is where they make thier money. Its like you have paid t come inot their shop so anything other than the cost of the breada nd filling is alreay paid for by you- through your ticket.
Cabin crews barely have to clean the planes between trips as they come round with rubbish bags and ask you to basically clear your own rubbish up! -
Hi,
When I was looking for flights to L.A from Gatwick and it costs a booming fortune. I thought Gatwick was cheap.
May thanks, London Vloger -
7:54 he spelled employees wrong.

I'm a FA for easyJet and I receive exhaustive training on emergency procedures, first aid and customer service. I'm not at the beginning of my career. I never work in the terminal, nor I have to clean the aircraft (apart from a general tidy in between turnarounds, however proper cleaning is given at nights). Just saying.

It doesn't explain what happens to the ~30$ in taxes you mentioned in the first video. Surely they have to amount for similar sums in Europe and yet a cost there can be as low as 10-12euros as per your example. What gives there?
-
actually Easy jet flies form Milan Malpensa to Paris Charles De Gaulle (both main airports) and now Ryanair started flying from London Gatwick to Mlian Malpensa

that airplane is tanned at 1:40
