China is trying to increase their hegemony, India should do this too
-
I don't like Trump but China has never played fair, and it needs to be stopped at whatever cost.
-
Recent example of this in Rogue One.

interesting

Who cares, Hollywood is now owned by the Jews and Chinese.

I didn't realize that they upped the quota to 35 from 20. I think It's important to remember that a whole bunch of the films let in are from Korea and occasionally bollywood because oftentimes these films resonate better with Chinese audiences.
Also it means that we get very few decent dramas or thrillers. Oscar winners very rarely appear here, notable exceptions being "The Martian" and "The titanic." Most of the time, the movies that we get aren't of the highest quality - Transformers will pretty much always get a slot, the Warcraft movie, with some animated movies from Disney like "Zootopia" and "Moana"
This just means that all of the though-provoking stuff - "Spotlight" or "Hell or High water" or some of the smaller indie stuff "Swiss army man" or "The Lobster", basically any movie promoting a deeper analysis of the plot devices and cinematographic techniques receive very little attention. -
China's really smart to be limiting Western input in their film market, and trying their own hand at the entertainment industry. The strict government socialist policies aside, it's what a country that wishes to stand on its own in the global market should do.
Still. China has so many people, so many academics and intellectuals, so many creators. And they couldn't come up with a better name for their version of Hollywood other than:
东方影都 (literal translation: eastern film capital)
... I'm so ashamed. -
This is the first vox video I've Liked... ever

Its difficult to see Chinese movie in US theaters too. Same as US have strict rules for the foreign movie in its market.
-
so this is why Donald Trump likes China.

Remember how the Chinese posters for Star Wars: The Force Awakens made Finn's portion of the screen significantly smaller?
Also, don't expect China to always be to privy on Jewi-er, I mean, American values on screen. -
This video is very mis-informed, especially with the heavy weight put on the idea that China cares about it's moral laws and guides. Chinese propaganda were not the only films being made, the movie business was booming with the rise of Wuxia and it's popularity within China and Hong Kong. Also, "superstitions and wizards" are not really taken seriously as a moral problem in China, please it sounds silly to say Harry Potter should be excluded from China. Magic and superstition is inherent in Chinese culture, tradition and mythology. The government is not the old kind of dicatorship, it is shitty yes, but there is so much more freedom in China before and now then you may think.

"How China is changing Hollywood" It's causing REALLY bad movies to be made.
-
but you gotta admit if you actually know the language and culture their movies aint any worse than hollywood
-
Films must be shot in Shanghai???...why other cities don't portray what Chinese are trying to portray??
-
Don't let the CCP grab you by the ball.
-
who wants to see majority chinese people in movies in mainstream cinemas? not me, and not billions of other people. we see way too many ugly chinese faces in real life. keep it on the screen to a minimum.
-
basically, china uses bribes or threats to spread propaganda through movies about how good the chinese are, in order to mask their highly militaristic, corrupt and controlling their government is and how rude, dirty, inconsiderate their people are.
-
leave it to China to build there own Hollywood
-
Chinese movies suck.
