To deal with the massive unemployment and economic paralysis of the Great Depression, both the Roosevelt government in the US and Hitler's government in Germany launched innovative and ambitious programs in 1933. Although Roosevelt's "New Deal" programs helped only marginally, the Third Reich's much more focused and comprehensive policies proved remarkably successful. Within three years unemployment was banished and Germany's economy was booming. As Weber explains, this remarkable achievement is little known and rarely acknowledged. He also takes a look at the Third Reich's economic and taxation policies, and their impact on people's lives, as well as the ideology and social-economic principles on which they were based.

At a time when in the US,people were killing themselves,had no money,no work and as a country we were falling apart,Germany put millions to work,money in their pockets,marriage and births skyrocketed,crime was down and immoral bs was mostly wiped from their society? I wish someone could help us today to have successful economy. Not that I live in a bad economy, but inefficient and corrupt. The poverty is undeniably rising and have never been so widespread in my country since the 90's big change. I do not share any ideology to harm anything. All I want is my nation back, somebody to overtake this once and for all from the spider web of western companies and politics to become independent, self governing again. My ancestors are rolling in their graves when they see us doing deals and pushing ourselves back into the rule of the big wolves. They died to help us become a nation on the maps.

We will never fix the United States until we detach ourselves from corrupt central bankers. If we are going to have a central bank, why do we leave it up to an unregulated, unelected, select few? All they have done is initiate and prolong economic depression -- didn't we create the FED to prevent economic panic? Incompetence is far too soft an allegation -- this is a corrupt group. Our money is worth nothing to what it was before 1913!

what is striking is that a run on a bank can cause industries to fall? like wtf,, industries are like muscles... people work = functioning economy, yet these bank runs can stop industries, whether debliberatly or not .... if i can f* up your economy, then I can institute a central bank; what can of mortal would "play" thisgame?. It all seems so contrived. Final anylisis, if you want to know if you truly live in a free society, you got to findout whether it's ok for people to create a bank that can compete with the central bank... I mean who the f* wakes up in the morning thinking of setting up a bank?? I mean... I don't know thesituation in Canada, which is where i live now.

The economic policies of the 1930's were socialist. FDR had his New Deal. Hitler National Socialism and Stalin International Socialism.
I submit that Hitler did not want to go to war with Poland if he could have solved the question of the Danzig Corridor in a peaceful manner. He wanted initially to reunite German Speaking peoples.
The Soviet Union was a real existential threat to Germany.......moreso than other nations because of the proximity to Russia. We do not hear much about the evil that Stalin represented ........... why is that???
I think had war been avoided Germany could have become a model for other countries to pull out of the Great Depression.
Ya National Socialism had a dark side. And ya so did the other Socialist systems of the time.
