It is important to also point out that the Catholic Church, though not the wealthiest organisation by any means, it is the world’s largest charitable organisation, running and supporting countless charities, relief organisations, hospitals, and similar enterprises at great cost to the Church.
But the answer to the problem of the poor is not for the Catholic Church to sell all that it has and uses (it couldn’t do that if it wanted to) but rather for all people to live out the virtues of charity and justice that the Church calls us to. If each one of us, regardless of our religious background, lived out to the fullest the corporal works of mercy (feeding the hungry, giving drink to the thirsty, clothing the naked, providing shelter for the homeless, visiting the sick and imprisoned, burying the dead), we would eliminate poverty. -
First of all, the pope himself has little or no personal wealth. As far as the magnificent buildings and artwork, much of it has been gifts from artisans and artists throughout the centuries. The land owned by the papacy was also a gift. But the pope is the recipient and custodian of these treasures, not their ‘owner’. They all belong to the entire Church, handed down from previous generations, and are something for the whole world to treasure and enjoy. Its a worship for God and why not he has done so much for man .

These artworks do not belong to the Church but to humanity , Saint Peters is a work of art as any museum is that has been collecting works of art for over 500 years .

there are millions of catholic cathedrals or churches across the globe! and the vatican {catholic headquarters} gets about 2% from each churcher diezmo or 10% each catholic has to pay! every single catholic country in latin america is dying of hunger! only great satan, freedom usa. is godly enough to help the poor!! because jesus couldn't help himself or noone els for that matter! reject christ and the catholic state and wealth and riches will follow!

How on earth Vatican could sell those artworks when they where created for the Catholic Church exclusively by those artist. Secondly all those artworks are a part of Vatican Museum .... So you may as well propose to the French Gouvernment to sell the Louvre Museum or to the Queen of England to sell her palace. Trust me catholic church do a lot for the poor people... not everyone of us is a homophobic pedofile...

All the Christian religions are financially well off, there are a lot of TV evangelists who live like kings and Queens. I can give you their names if you like, I am sure you know most of them and I am sure, some of you even watch their TV programs!...They made their wealth the same way the Catholic Church made it!...The Christian faith had proven to be a very profitable busines on either side, isn't it?
