Chris Weasler T'97, Global Head of Spectrum Policy and Connectivity Planning at Facebook, sits down with Alex Russell T'15 to discuss the mission of Internet.org, its business model, barriers and future possibilities. Chris explains how Internet.org is a Facebook-led initiative bringing together technology leaders, nonprofits and local communities to connect the two thirds of the world that doesn’t currently have internet access and therefore cannot participate in the global knowledge economy. Through zero-rating partnerships with operators, the app has successfully launched as an on-ramp to new users in 8-9 countries.
