Jeremy Rifkin - 7th European Summit of Regions and Cities

Jeremy Rifkin, President of The Foundation on Economic Trends at the Bratislava Summit, 8-9 July 2016: Investing in sustainable regions and cities. The American economic and social theorist Jeremy Rifkin has electrified economic thinking across the world with his vision of a 'third industrial revolution' that could underpin a smarter, greener, and more sustainable economic future. In a keynote speech, given in Bratislava at the European Summit of Regions and Cities on 9 July 2016, Mr Rifkin argued that the digitalisation of communication, energy and transport means that Europe will be able to more efficiently manage, power and move economic activity in each region. In this lecture, he explains how this these changes can also be an economic opportunity, and urges regions to embrace this digitally managed economy.
