I like this game but it can be really frustrating. I always do fine from the colonial age through ww2 but once I get to the cold war I always end up bleeding money.

A few things you could try to do, hope this isn't too much:
It is better to use the space of Corn plantations for anything else, and buy it from whatever country is exporting it. Corn is extremely cheap (Compared to other goods) and it's best used as animal food.
If you ever get lost about what buildings you already have, go on the Almanac, there's a list of every building you have there, on the last tab. It also links you to them, so you can more easily change the budget of everything. I usually keep max budget because it increases population faster and I very often lack workers.
Keep your ships occupied with sales that are above the regular price. In the Rum one, you get no extra profit. You have so many ships you could try to make a buy-cheap-sell-expensive kind of deal. Also, I kind of doubt a single factory can keep up with 5 ships, and you should make sure all factories have enouth raw materials.
I believe the reason everyone hates you is lack of satisfaction. Issue the extra ractions edict, have every possible food type (You're lacking one, don't know which), and make sure your grocery stores aren't completely full (One can only serve 150 pop!). It's quite easy to get it up to 99 doing just that. Religion and entertainment are next to "easiest to increase". Security has decreased because of Mardi Gras, so an extra police station or upgrading your current ones wouldn't be bad.
Check to see what kind of jobs are avaiable and why your unemployed citizens aren't working there. Lack of education? Add high schools and colleges. Too far from where they live? Time to add some residential buildings around. Shacks often times indicate that someone didn't find housing near enouth their job.
You shouldn't try to upgrade houses all at once. Housing happiness won't go up much unless you expense hundreds of thousand dollars upgrading it all and making sure everyone is happy where they live. -

If you do not have one yet get a rum factory

Strictoaster, why don't you use "Fractions" button in the almanac? This way you can know what your people need.

Damn i really wanna see the next episode :(

wow, you're getting huge rebel groups! no wonder they destroy everything so fast; in my game i get only like 2 groups of rebels (don't ask me why so few). Btw, i so like your videos :33
