Dr Madsen Pirie, President of the Adam Smith Institute, shows that if you know your fallacies, you can win every argument. His new book, How to Win Every Argument (The Use and Abuse of Logic) is available for pre-order from Bloomsbury http://www.bloomsbury.com/uk/how-to-win-every-argument-9780826498946/

This is interesting and I've been thinking about this. There is a limited supply of currency at this very moment right? All the currency in the world is the pizza which means when one person gets money another loses it. Sure they may have gotten something of value for exchange but they still no longer have that money. They've "lost" it. If all the countries in all the world stopped printing money and said this is it. This is all the money that will ever exist, then the world currencies become a zero sum game right? Note I said the "world currencies" would become a zero sum game not wealth in general. People could still trade, etc.
The world does not have unlimited supply of resources. It's just so large that we view it as a false zero sum game, but in theory it seems like it is a zero sum game. Sand is created when rocks get smashed by waves. OK, so people take all the rocks then, and so on and so on. I mean I get in a practical sense, in our lifetime and many others, this obviously won't happen, but when looking at the grander picture it sure seems like a zero sum game to me because there is NOT an unlimited supply of anything in the strictest sense.
But let's be honest, in the world today, currency is all anyone really cares about. Currency gives you an easier life and allows you to do a lot of your dreams. Money makes the world go around right, and there is only so much money in the world at any given point AND government COULD stop printing it. Is it likely? No, but they could. -
That invisible hand of Adam Smith seems to have an erect middle finger pointed at large portions of the species.

I've watched a few of Madsen's videos and most make logical sense - this one is a bit iffy, dare I say politically driven rather than logically.

Hahahahaha.
Loved the last message. -
oh i like the words "voluntary exchange" too bad that the world is based on the exact opposite.

Dr Madsen Pirie, thank you for uploading this!
"If you know your fallacies, you could win every argument" -- Does it seem like winning would also require your opponent knowing/understanding the fallacies which you identify in his arguments? -
