It's almost surreal to hear him talk about the 2016 presidential election. He was pretty much spot on when he said that someone will fill the space to the left of her politically (a la Bernie Sanders) but she'll probably win anyway. And he talked about people just wanting something new and different... Though I'm sure he never imagined we'd end up with a spray-tan cartoon character republican as president.

(((David Brooks))) enough said.

I like David Brooks as a person and a commentator. We need more people like him willing to say their Truth and set a good example for their readers to be authentic and at the same time not fear being controversial.

What the hell is she saying, "I am not good at math"? it is 2016 woman. Stop being so girly! A man would not say that!! Recognize your responsibility as a role model please.

"...The New York Times continues to put its head in the sand. - Rabbis who are critical of Israel’s action in Gaza are afraid to say so in their shuls because they are afraid of angering donors– even though younger members of their flock agree with them.
Late in the Times article, we learn that some of these rabbis even support BDS, boycott, divestment and sanctions. That’s a story. And by the way, all that happened to the rightwing rabbi at the start of the article was he got a letter from a member who was quitting. That’s a bit different from a donor’s call. Just ask Rev. Bruce Shipman. A member quitting and a donor withholding funds — that’s false equivalence.
There is today a revolution taking place inside American Jewish life. Gaza has destroyed many young Jews’ belief in the Jewish state and undermined liberal Zionists’ belief that they can reconcile the two strands of their ideology. The New York Times continues to put its head in the sand.

Aspen Institute FOH mixers. Notch out 100k with a thin Q of about 10.0 and you'll get rid of the low end feedback.

Buckley, Will, and Brooks -- a great tradition. Most people will be polite to your face, but the internet reveals some to be cowards. It is easy to anonymously proselytize and to criticize those who take the risk.
Second Amendment issue is much more than symbolism. It is an intrinsic right to self-defense.
The Tea Party wishes it got half a loaf. Since the New Deal, the traditional view of American freedom has gotten crumbs. Pres. Obama and the Democrats refuse to debate or discuss -- "refuse to negotiate." That attitude is the seed of dysfunction. -
He's very charming. Very good interview.

Upon just reading an op-ed of his current view that " Iran is a fanatical, hegemonic, hate-filled regime, " he surely must be talking about Israel. He bloviates on and on talking about US defeats in Vietnam, Iraq, and makes the crass comment linking the Iran deal as the third defeat. Not once does he mention the long term costs of our soldiers returning injured, maimed, psychologically hurt, and committing suicide in record numbers. They are sent to fight in countries that never threatened us. He is exactly the rot that infests the MSM today. Asshole of the year!

What a smart thoughtful guy.

Instead of working for Brooks, as if you're going to learn something, you can read the first 10 or 20 (at least) of the readers' picks comments responding to any of Brooks' columns. You'll also realize that Brooks' assistants aren't very smart either.

+japandata I totally agree with you on that. I agree with Brooks about 15% of the time, not often, but I like him, I think he is thoughtful and intelligent and has a good wit. He should be the norm when it comes to journalists, instead he is one of the top because the bar is so awful and low.

Miss Brooks on Fox. One of the best interviews Couric has done.
