So in other words, you can't sum up why Trump won this election simply, it was a complicated confluence of many factors which led to some weird, somewhat unusual outcome. We won't go into that though, it's just unexplainable and trite.
But Clinton lost because she's a woman. Not the destruction of Libya, not the "Catholic spring" not an assortment of other war crimes and horrible policies (often directed at minorities and women themselves), not the incredibly lazy but also somehow condescending way her campaign basically came down to"at least I'm not Donald Trump!" Not DNC corruption, not calling a huge portion of the electorate deplorable, not......we could all probably add several more things to this list.
No, none of that. It's simple, she just wasn't girly enough.
I wish I could be a great thinker like Gladwell. Seems like a sweet gig. -
not proven that Hillary corrupt ....
-
well now it should be obvious to everyone why intellectual people call him pseudo-intellectual. Gosh, what a pretentious shit head

Gladwell does not explain important points about Hillary Clinton's resumé. Corporate donors, Benghazi, how she alienated progressive voters, lack of concrete plans. It's not about her being a woman. It's about her poor track record, lack of honesty, and lack of vision. I'm not saying Trump is a great choice, but simply stating that Clinton probably lost the election because she was a poor candidate, and people went for chaos rather than the status quo.

We don't need leaders with ambitions of power.
-
Eraserhead impersonator.
-
Very interesting analysis, Gladwell always provides unique insight. Of course, a lot of Trump supporters seem to have no idea who he is.

Is this gentleman supposed to be an expert....
-
Malcolm sees the world through rose colored goggles. Hillary was very flawed.

I was turned on to Malcolm Gladwell but now that he mentioned that, in general, voters disliked Hillary Clinton because she's a woman, I'm now turned off by him. For me, Hillary turns me off because, despite clear evidence that there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, she voted for the war for the wrong reasons: to make herself look tough. And at the expense of soldier's lives. Nothing to do with being a woman, Mr. Gladwell, sorry.

Trump's voters are stupid enough to be duped by this idiot. They don't know how much Chinese farmers LOVE chairman Mao before they got killed by his man-made famine.
-
I've never regarded Gladwell as a scholar, however, I have respected his intellect. However, he is clearly partisan and I have a lot less respect for him.

I love this guy. I appreciate his views.

Great interview, Wendy :)

Hillary is ensconced in the "old system". She's part of the problem. Plus... her personality and that voice. It's all about the "whole image." Frankly, I find Trump even more unsavory. His decorum STINKS. He may have "balls", but he has no DIGNITY. Calling people names like a school boy? That pussy grabbing video? He's a degenerate. At least Hillary isn't that. I didn't want either of them. I wanted Bernie. HE would have been the right candidate, but the system wouldn't let that happen.

Love this guy. He has a pretty clear understanding of what is happening in America right now. However, I would say that Clinton's unpopularity is based on far more than her gender, although it is absolutely one factor. She also represents an establishment political system that simply isn't working for working class people anymore and she was severely punished for it. That said, Gladwell is right on point about the backlash to Obama's presidency. America loves to pat itself on the back for electing him, and then blaming him for the polarization that resulted. The truth is, this division was always going to happen after Obama and Gladwell understands that.
-
This is amazingly shallow and inaccurate. Hillary was not an "establishment" candidate? You can't have the support of every major media outlet and complete control over the DNC like she had and not be the establishment candidate. Gladwell should just throw in the towel - he's just making stuff up and it's so wrong as to be incompetent.
-
This guy is a complete idiot! I would not trust him to tie my shoelaces.
-
damn what a moron. liked some of his books too.
