I know I am responding to an old comment but you are so right. When I first arrived in Germany I didnt know how great diesel is because of how its thought of in the USA. Once I got a 530D I was hooked.
-
I am looking to upgrade to this. While stationed in Germany from 09-12 I drove a 1998 530d Touring. Man I miss that car. My record was 876kms on one tank on a drive to Venice. Diesel is the best imo.

BMW designed the 335D perfectly, there is no compromise of performance over fuel economy. I would pick this over the Prius anyday.
-
My 2011 335d gets 34mpg vs 25mpg in same commute as my V6 Accord
-
I like my 2011 335D which gets 36-40 mpg highway and tons of power. We got it with Premium Nav and split rear seats for more storage. No problem snce we bought it and the dealer will give $4500 credit under invoice price for eco and loyalty. That is over $8000 less than MSRP.

@7477238 americans are just using hybrids as an argument to keep diesel cars off the road because they are scared of the smog of the diesels of the 80s.
-
Americans are stupid. They think Hybrids are better, it's sad how easily influenced Americans are when it comes to Hybrids. It's obvious that Clean Diesel is better and their longevity has been proven.
-
In fact, here in europe, BMW sells diesel inline 6 since the mid 80's. They started with 524td wich pulled out about 115hp. Then the E36 3-series came with the longtime famous 2.5L IL6 TDS, pulling out 143hp. Today, my own 335d pulls 286hp in its std spec (we dont have these adblue systems yet), and lower-end 320D pulls out 184 hp from a 2L Inline 4, with an unbelievable 57 mpg... (here, fuel is 30 to 40% cheaper than gas) Times are changing ;-)

@kristererik if you would have seen my other comment, somebody else had already corrected me but thanks anyway
-
diesel, turbos, torque..plus it's a bimmer.
-
ok, it has an inline -6 but my point is that they twin turbocharged a diesel engine, an inline-6 at that, most car companies are only twin turbocharging gasoline engines and if it a diesel gettting twin turbocharged, its a V-8....that is my point
-
OMG, if I had the money, I'd totally buy one of these! Welcome to the diesel market, BMW. I hope to see more cars like this.
-
now here is a company that is thinking, BMW has a diesel V-6 twin turbo, I wondered who have came up with that idea first........?

(sigh)
