National Geographic Channel features San Diego as the only U.S. city in its acclaimed documentary series "World's Smart Cities". San Diego was chosen for its strong technology sector, local innovators, green practices, smart public planning and an unparalleled quality of life. Other selection factors included San Diego's size of population, demographics/cultural diversity, livability, economy and business climate, educational institutions, leadership and strong sense of community. National Geographic Channel's "World's Smart Cities: San Diego" documentary is an unprecedented exploration of the 8th largest U.S. city where technology, talent and innovation create a new urban environment - one that will emerge as a leading city in the 21st century. "Both business and leisure travelers have known about San Diego's appealing weather and friendly beach lifestyle for years," said Joe Terzi, President and CEO of the San Diego Tourism Authority. "However, 'World's Smart Cities' will show viewers worldwide that San Diego has more than a sunny outlook. The city's talent, innovation and creativity highlighted in this documentary prove that San Diego's business environment and local culture are among the world's best." This lifelong Nashvillian just returned from my first week in San Diego and while I've never done heroin, I once had morphine in a hospital and I figured that was as good as it gets in life but I tell you it was nothing...NOTHING...compared to the absolute pleasure of simply walking down La Playa at sunrise and debating to myself whether the locals pronounced it La PLAY-a or La PLY-a. Bravo San Diego...bravo.

That was a great advertisement for San Diego! (who paid for it?)

Who needs a public library when you have the internet and amazon, what a waste of money1 also where did the money come from? Grants, ie taxes and fiat currency and the hidden inflation tax. what about industry ? what good is a library when you have no job and have no capital for a startup or modernization of existing plants? Where does electricity come from....burning carbon!!! electric cars are a joke as is the hoax of anthropogenic global warming. stack em and packem hampster village!

san diego...ridiculously high rents, home prices, wages lower then other cities, gas prices higher than other cities, and incredibly crowded for a small area. OH and terrible traffic...... don't be fooled guys. lived here my whole life.

visit rancho bernardo or Del Mar and you'll see what san diego is really about

👎🏽👎🏽 very expensive & people are self centered and selfish. Beaches are nice but cold most of the time.
-
13:10 you know you are in san diego when even the scientists wear vans
-
It's called "America's Finest City" for a reason! Expensive? Yes! Is it worth? Yes! It's like living anywhere else. You get used to it over time.

Sorry, San Diego is not a smart city. It has to be one of the dumbest designs ever. Starting with how the trolley is positioned around the front of Gas Lamp. Gas Lamp attracts idiots. The lower class tourists, annoying transplants from outside of California mixed with the excessive military element screams stupid. This is why we are moving to Santa Barbara in a couple of weeks.

So many interesting things happening in A Whale's Vagina

Live here and in San Diego people can either be very nice or huge assholes
-
San Diego will grow at 10 % annually for next 10 years. It will become newyork of 21st century.

San Diego sucks. Ugly boring town filled with ugly rude people. I definitely wouldn't want to live in such a horrible city!

It's important to note that there is also a bad side to gentrification. There were a lot of SRO hotels downtown where poor people lived. Most of them lost their housing and not all were able to move somewhere else. San Diego has a large homeless population and it doesn't do any good to have a nice city if no one can afford to live in it. This video is more like an ad to try and get young technical people to move to San Diego than an accurate representation. Most of the country's drugs come in through Barrio Logan and people in the SE part of town still live in terrible conditions. National Geographic used to be a lot better on giving a balanced view.

The city I liked most. RT from San Yesidro to Escondido is fun to travel by MTS. Old town is the most sought place
