1. Mr. Chomsky.. Unions WERE wiped out. One of the largest unions today are Police Officers and Nurses.. Both paid by tax payer.. Badges by city,state,fed and Nurses by Medicare/Medicaid. This country is a cesspool of capitalist swine. And the Police serving them did well, didnt they., served over 10 million foreclosure notices the last 7 years. At least the cops could afford their family and home. They didn't have to deal with private sector greed of America trying to take their home, they had a high enough salary. Hussain, paid his police good in Bagdad too. They didn't live in the suburbs away from the areas they policed though.. Lived in a ring around the palace. Course.. Soldiers that got injured in that BS War deal with VA Hospitals.. Cops don't have to deal with that.
2. Democracy, Socialism, Communism.. Just forms of government that goals are to maintain financial freedom which means freedom and rights for citizens in a capitalist system. Seen plenty of poverty and strife in Democratic Countries. Democracy is a crap system when big money has influence, mass media, etc, on the uneducated citizens that are voting. How for instance, Nazi Germany was birthed. Folk voted it in. Some Rich German Businessmen played that event like a fiddle, and were never put on trial. Just like a few American Corporations did stop doing business with Nazis working Jew Slaves, till they were forced to withdraw business by the Government.
3. 20% of Obese folk in America that require healthcare 20-40 years than they should won't have a good outcome either with inflation rates. As for geriatric folk in America.. Even you, Mr Chomsky didn't have to worry about a 100-400k medical/healthcare bill due to you parents end of life treatments.
4. No worries Chomsky, I don't see China or India keeping up with all the cheap industrial production with the environmental death machine in their societies are creating chasing that greenback they call a dollar. Wrong green they should have been worried about when Smog blankets their cities, or their water supplies are polluted. And, IGNORANT folk in America try dancing it off. I foresee tech rations, and other rations in America because of pollution in industrialized countries that produce parts or toys for Americas industrial and retail system. Not, to, hard to see happening.. When China recently had to shut down 700 industrial businesses for 5 days due to Smog, oh, and tell folks not to drive their vehicles..
5. That talk.. Also.. Don't talk about all the American Christians that might have a conscience with their upbringing when it comes to folk in other countries working like slaves of the black generation of America in the past to provide their goods. Pick that cotton! Here's a shack, and some food, your lucky if you have clean water. Dig up those materials for those cell phones, and make sure I can still get a T-shirt for 5$ in America.
6. Wrong Chomsky.. Plenty of folk with educations that are eager to work but got dooped by the advertising of things needed, supply and demand. Like what happened with the pharmacist boom, and the computer programming degrees (many of those folk met the unemployment line), along with all the folk machines replaced to pay for their retirees pensions. When an alien like Facebook pulls in 30+ billion in less than ten years.. That is a whole other paradigm, and They, are not the only ones. Hence the term Tech/info area where there are MANY that suck money from local communities so they don't have funding.. On top of finding ways to get out of corporate taxes with all their friends making tax laws in government. "Don't get no tax money back" from the pharmaceutical companies that sell their pills to all the citizens, when gov is paying for them out of the tax dollar either.. That is a simple Chaotic Downfall Fail Operation to see. Some religious aholes out their sucking tax money with their "mismanagement" providing for the poor don't help either. Scum.

12. just discovered this guy. Have to admit im a libertarian. He seems to just go from thing to thing instead of trying to describe specific information. He usually says some statistic and moves on, cant really understand his thought process. Where does he stand on free markets and systems of govt?

    Chomsy never in his life ran a business. Never had to meet payroll, tax roll , lease payments, deal with employees, clients, suppliers, distributors, competitors, etc......

16. We can account for externalities AND end poverty by charging substantial fees to industries that put pollution or deplete resources, then giving the fee proceeds to all the world's people.
    
    Fees are high enough when random surveys show that most people think that environmental impacts of whatever kind are not excessive. Anyone can take a survey, document the process and publish the results, so no central authority or vested interest can come to dominate the system.

17. We live in a world of psychopaths and they have amassed all the power. I'm cringing as I watch whats going on in the US, and even worse the comments made against black people. Many people think it's ok for 100's of mostly innocent black people to be shot unarmed many for no reason at all, but a few whites as well. The cops are also beating average people for absolutely nothing, I wouldn't care if it was just thugs or criminals. But even in Canada it's happening and what we have are beaten down people, depressed and in horrible poverty with super rich.... I don't know how anyone can think this is going to end well.
    
    Either the super rich give back at least some of what they stole or it will have be forced back by the government. I use the word government because that's what the force will be called once it forces it's way to power and takes back the wealth. An organization to represent all of a country instead of just the 1%.
    
    I also use the word psychopaths because the rich have no concept of the suffering they have caused or the lives lost due to hospitals not being built, pollution, toxic food and deaths from cutting safety both at work and in the general public. The lower class's lives have no value to them, were just lazy and should shut up and work harder.....Meanwhile our production has gone through the roof, our countries are twice as rich as they were 20 or so years ago but were all lazy right?

19. The advertising industry? Really? I've heard some excellent criticisms and some poor criticisms of markets, but this has to be the weakest. And then he follows it up with negative externalities, perhaps the greatest of market failures. And then says the tragedy of the commons isn't true. He's kind of hit-or-miss...
    
    Noam would be more interesting to listen to if he didn't speak like a conspiracy theorist.
