No man is equal with every other man. Except by definition "in the eyes of the law". Some are deluded, some easily fooled, some not so bright, some more educated, some more dishonest, some have different cultural ways of thinking, etc.

Sad that ultimately he will be remember as a betrayer of his ideals - he's a Zionist gatekeeper. Do a search on it yourself. Vote Green.

great video

Sounds like Soveirgnty and the fact that humans are imperfect. As well we would all know Aristotle and Madison if the TV turned off and go read some NON FICTION.

I was just watching a documentary about Chomsky where he was discussing Aristotle and Madison.
Makes me wonder if my mind is making random connections.
Or if my phone really tracks my interests that well...huh... -
The founding fathers never intended a system where the average person would have any say in govt. The Federalist Papers and the Govt of enlightened elites is what they intended.
Instead of a colonial elite you got an elite of the upper American classes. You dont put in a system that requires a certain amount of property or a poll tax to have true Democracy. An appointed Senate? Electors?
The first signs that the masses were restless was the Whiskey Rebellion and Shays Rebellion. They called the average people The MOB. -
Does he ever talk about Kant?
-
Can anyone suggest to me further readings as to where Chomsky is getting his info on America's founding fathers, etc.?

free man, free mason

I would like to hear Chomsky on Jacob Schiff and leon Trotsky.

Our democracies are societies ruled by free men. The free men are the bourgeoisie, the capitalist class, and their courtiers our politicians who do their bidding, and the rest, we, are treated as serfs. That has always been the meaning of democracy, demi-cracy, rule by the elite 10 or so per cent of the population. More like 1%, should rename democracy milllcracy. Little wonder these arseholes of humanity speak of freedom and wanting to free societies unlike theirs by invading and destroying them,, they believe we are little more than rabble whom they are entitled to master

So this was the plan all along?
-
He is fucking Brilliant.I love listening to him explain and differentiate the various meanings of political systems and putting them in their natural historical context.
-
Oh, I love Planet Chomsky! I realize Professor Chomsky probably does not read comments, but I would love to hear his opinion on how he believes we can achieve equality when our nation and the rest of the world governments was founded on the inequality and oppressive modality of Patriarchy?
-
I've watched a lot of Chomsky posts and always found him to have brilliant insights. At times in some of the posts of his speaking engagements he rambles on a bit before getting to the point but he's always well worth taking the time to listen to. In this post I have to say he cuts right to the bottom line. The implications of what he's saying about the international flow of capital are amazing. Noam should have hired a food taster a long time ago. lol

Did I miss something? He doesn't really give any hard examples of Madison's version of maintaining inequality for democracy.
-
So Aristotle wanted to restrict the vote to freemen ,male and non alien. In other words about half the population I would guess.
Many western societies have had a massive influx of aliens in recent years .They have changed the composition of major towns and cities. How willing are we to give them an immediate vote ? Perhaps not quite as willing as we would like to think especially when different customs entail the man voting on behalf of his wives. Note the plural.
Our fears are not their fears but we still have them. -
"The conservative party, which doesn't exist anymore." HAHAHAHAHAHAHAhahaha.....hahahahahahahahaHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, ha!!!!!!!!!!!
-
"The majority of the population would vote in their own interest." Yes, Mr. Chomsky, so you would think. They don't do that in America. I'm sorry, I mean the U.S. The poor Republicans in the U.S. are being tricked by the GOP, and thats just, thats just the way it is, and has always been.

What year was this made, how long ago did he do this? That is very important, and should help answer questions.
