@LordDyhalto gold, being international money that lasts through history, will outlast any fiat, any community, in storage of value. however, that doesn't mean a local usury-free currency isn't a good idea. It's an amazing idea that fosters community and sustainability from the economic side and usury is criminal theft anyhow. I'd still be keeping the gold & silver long-term though.

@Xabesroth FYI, it's "ponzi" scheme, named after Charles Ponzi. Gold is better than more of their paper currency, so long as we use a real gold standard and not paper certificates issued by yet another privately-owned central bank. Of course, the ultimate solution is a different fiat, this time issued by the people. I point to the Bank of North Dakota as an example. Then even the various European aristocrats' huge vaults of gold won't do them any good.
