In the international workshop “My public space: Agora, urban space and citizenship”, organized by Greek authorities with IUAV, curated by Angeliki Avgitidou, Marcello Balbo, Laura Fregolent in Simona Morini in the XV Biennale di Venezia, PAX as a multidisciplinary project in Cordoba presents a solidarity methodology to re-use Mediterranean Cities. A Spanish project in a Greek Pavilion of an Italian Biennale upon Local Society and Culture versus Global Economy. PAX opens a debate about the speculation in our Heritage and Public Space. Only citizens together with a political attitude can save the urban ecology and the anthropological nature of our cities. After decades of real estate bubble, an indiscriminate occupation of land and an ownership culture, PAX- Patios de la Axerquía proposes an innovative operation of gobernance that fosters a change of urban model: from speculation to the culture of rehabilitation. The path of a multilevel co-management between public administration and social economy is the basis of the using vacant houses and public space. A model of energy transition through its social sustainability. The rehabilitation of the abandoned patio-houses means to restore the environmental value of the Mediterranean city and upgrade its history in contemporary key within citizenship. Updating the urban, environmental, social and economic value of the traditional city is a step toward understanding the Mediterranean city as an undeniable value of our past and, at the same time, as an essential tool for our future in a real Smart, Sustainable and Inclusive Europe. A Europe of City and Citizenship.
