Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak attended the Global Science and Innovation Advisory Council’s (GSIAC) 5th annual meeting in New York on Monday local time and talked about how Malaysia must always be prepared for external shocks that are beyond its control in order to maintain the forward momentum to stay on track to becoming a high-income nation by 2020.

Do you honestly believe that "high income nation by 2020" nonsense?
What do you think RM4,000 per month gross national income per capita will buy in 2020, given the current inflation rate estimated to be around 5.5% in the Klang Valley, compared to say RM2,500 per month in 2010 when Najib announced the Economic Transformation Programme?
Also, that RM48,000 per annum or RM4,000 per month per capita GNI is an average figure, whilst the median income is more like RM3,000 per month according to the Department of Statistics figures earlier this decade.
I will not be surprised if 70% of Malaysians earn less than that average figure in 2020.
Why not do the sums and ask Najib about this when you next encounter him.
