The Politics of Ecological Economics?| PRESENTER: Chris Robinson, Visiting Scholar at The Gund Institute for Ecological Economics | Associate Professor of Political Science at Clarkson University, and Co-Host of Readers and Writers on the Air, NCPR | 2/24/12 What are the politics and political implications of Ecological Economics? Ecological Economics has been accused by environmental thinkers of predicting ecosystem catastrophe that can be answered only with an ethics of survivalism and an authoritarian politics. Chris discusses how ecological economists see the political implications of their work, and whether there is a democratic alternative (to authoritarianism in the wake of ecosystem collapse) to be forged from their analyses of the biophysical limits to economic growth. This event is part of the weekly Gund Tea Series, an opportunity for affiliates of the Gund Institute for Ecological Economics and the broader University community to engage in robust discussion about topical research, current events, and relevant theory. The Teas host visiting scholars and research associates from around the world, as well as some of the Gund's very own fellows & students.
