Positive economic impact of UK immigration from the EU

European immigrants to the UK have paid more in taxes than they received in benefits, helping to relieve the fiscal burden on UK-born workers and contributing to the financing of public services – according to new research by the UCL Centre for Research and Analysis of Migration (CReAM). European immigrants who arrived in the UK since 2000 have contributed more than £20bn to UK public finances between 2001 and 2011. Moreover, they have endowed the country with productive human capital that would have cost the UK £6.8bn in spending on education. Over the period from 2001 to 2011, European immigrants from the EU-15 countries contributed 64% more in taxes than they received in benefits. Immigrants from the Central and East European ‘accession’ countries (the ‘A10’) contributed 12% more than they received. These are the central findings of new analysis by Professor Christian Dustmann and Dr Tommaso Frattini of the fiscal consequences of European immigration to the UK, published by the Royal Economic Society on Wednesday 5 November 2014 in the Economic Journal.

The paper was rubbish. The cost of housing, child benefits, and healthcare costs the UK billions. Roma cost the most as they don't work and have higher birth rate. The report was paid for by the EU.

These fkn arrogant unelected money grabbing lying cuts from Brussels. have a fkn nerve don't they just lie away so easily for their immoral earning. It's a FUKIN LIBERTY

The majority of EU migrants are paid the minimum wage which is supplemented by UK taxpayers in the form of in-work credits and housing benefit.
It is a false economy to say they are contributing to UK plc when in fact they take out more than they put in (housing, NHS, child benefit, unemployment). -
hahaha these people think we are all idiot.
bunch of crap -
The UK is too full of immigrants and needs to cut back. So now British citizens can no longer get a spouse visa for their non-EU partner, they must instead sponsor their partner, this is very expensive and time consuming. Meanwhile all non-British EU citizens living in the UK can get a family visa for their non-EU spouse for free and guaranteed within 3 weeks and they can do the same for their in-laws, grandparent-in-laws, spouses children from another marriage. I haven't seen my little girl for seven months because my wife of four years can't get a visa. But if I was 'an EEA citizen but not British' (gov.uk) my wife and child would have been here months ago. So this whole 'free movement of people' theory just makes it OK for the wrong people to come to Britain while those who really need to come here (ie British people's family members) can't. There is no right of residency at all for someone who has a British child but someone with a non-British EU child can get UK residency with recourse to public funds. Why, oh, why do us British put up with this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGXQofH1zU4

Totally meaningless whaffle if your hometown is now a broken society of 40 competing nationalities, languages ,and relegions that your now fell un welcome in. There's a 3 week wait to see a GP, that is qualified in Nigeria, and your wage has just been reduced to what a Romanian is happy to work for. You are refused benefits, while your next door neighbour arrived last week with 7 children and is given a 4 bedroom house, without ever paying any tax in the UK.

This is the same man Christian Dustmann who in a report a few years ago calculated that there would be only 13,000 estimated Polish come into the UK ...nearly one million later!!!
-
The report was funded by the EU!
Haha. -

No one believes this phoney short sighted partial and bias study - go and read the BBC comments if you dont believe me. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-29912945
Howsabout adding the effects of wage stagnation - British workers diaplaced now on benefits - NHS, Schools, Crime, Police etc. How can such a study have such wieght even when it is a known fact that the true number of EU migrants is not even known such is the UK border control. The cost of EU membership alone dwarfs theses alleged economic benefits. What would the economy have looked like without the low skilled immigrants eg with the salary and benefits money staying in the local economy instead of being sent back to eastern Europe and indigenous peoples filling these jobs at a fair price not having to claim benefits? What about the illegal non EU migrants? What will this study look like in 10 - 20 years time with continued c.250 - 500 k non skilled immigrants coming in every year? THIS EXCUSE OF A STUDY PERSUADES NOR FOOLS NO ONE UCL NOT ONE PERSON - IT SERVES ONLY TO DAMAGE UCLs REP AS A UNIVERSITY! -
Yeah yeah yeah blah blah blah.coincidence we have a foreign bloke telling us this....and we have a £1-7 billion Bill to pay and the British want out of the Eu.....it's the non immigrants were more concerned about claiming asylum saying it's unsafe to go home getting British citizenship then going home on holiday and getting nice houses built so they can retire in their old age on what would be in their country a nice fat UK pension....and let's have a look at why the Eu people want to come here it's because the earnings are higher and free top class nhs and housing and education..if we in the UK went to Europe we have to stand on our own two feet....so free movement goes only one way....look at almost every minicab driver cash work declaring as little as possible sending all their money home ie not spending it here.not one wearing a poppy (I've made a note of this )so much for the englishness test eh.I got a minicab the other day he not only didn't know where he was going he didn't know what a poppy was and could barley speak English.....but getting back to the Eu will they tell us how many European citizens are languishing in our prisons costing the UK millions.and as I said if it was good in their country they wouldn't come here would they!!!! I want out of the Eu I believe these scare tactics and excuses don't wash with the British public anymore..so think hard Cameron and milliband the British and there's still some of us left have a voice.....
