Bush told the people that real estate "is good for the Pocket Book of the Country." EEEHH Wrong!!. Try again. Reckless lending is what caused the economy to come to a near collapse. These enormous bank mainly Lehman Brothers was making too much money on the lending in real estate. So they lowered the bar and got greedy. It used to be that anyone with a credit rating of 620 and 20% down payment was the requirements for a loan. The banks made it to where any idiot with a credit of 500 and no money down at all could reach for the american dream and these people trusted the banks with that incompetence. Now the unexpected happens stock prices surrounding real estate drops, Mortgage payments go up, people can't afford to make payments on their mortgages, they default and lose their homes and this is where it gets worse. AIG got into business with these banks and sold them massive amounts of insurance and the massive amount of foreclosures were covered by AIG and they came close to bankruptcy. Billions of dollars in Teacher pensions took a hit as well as construction life insurance etc. General Electric did business with AIG. That's where they got most of their money from is AIG and with the economic fuck ups and the losses AIG was covering General Electric started losing money too and they had trouble financing their industrial operations. If General electric would have shutdown every business in the country would have went with it too. The Great Depression of the late 20's and early 30's may have been caused by a Stock Market Crash but Credit Ratings contributed to it as well and from what I've seen with the Stock Market in 2007 thru 08 and how bad these major banks started to become there would have been a reboot of the Great Depression of the 30's only this time it would have been a lot worse. If a depression was to happen again it would be very destructive and far more worse than the last Depression. Be thankful for what you have right now because you never know when the shit might hit the fan again.

Cruz tries to blame Obama for 2008 crash
A few years ago, a statewide poll in Louisiana found that nearly a third of Republicans in the Pelican State blamed President Obama for the poor federal response to Hurricane Katrina. The nonsense was almost amusing – Katrina hit in August 2005; Obama was inaugurated in January 2009.
[...]
For one thing, the Republican senator ties Obama to the 2008 crash, which is foolish given the fact that Obama took office in 2009. Indeed, for Cruz to blame poor economic conditions in 2009 on the president is equally unfair given that Obama was still rescuing the country from the worst global economic crisis since the Great Depression.

Bush doubled federal-state asset-forfeiture looting in 2007 to punish hemp producers his daddy wanted put to death. The crash of 1987 had exactly the same cause. State governments realized this and began legalizing hemp to save the economy from irresponsible fanatics.

The seeds for the crisis were planted by the Carter-Reagan administrations and watered by the Clinton-Bush administrations. Any agree?
