On 1st May 2013, Professor Rob Gilles - Head of the School of Management at Queen's University Belfast - gave a talk to the QUB PPE Society entitled, 'Understanding Economic Competition in the 21st Century.' You can watch the Q&A that followed this talk here: http://youtu.be/800-b7G4BNs The description of the talk is: "Our 21st century global economy is quintessentially a network-based economy. Competition in a network economy is fundamentally different than that in a market economy. The misunderstanding how firms compete is one of the main causes of why we allowed the 2007/08 financial crises to be transformed in a depression rather than a recession. National governments have adopted the wrong policies to remedy the consequences of the lack of competition in financial networks in particular, causing the current economic depression."
