Pt. 2: Thomas Frank on Clinton & Democratic Establishment: What Happened to the Party of the People?

http://democracynow.org - In a major economic address in Ohio on Tuesday, Hillary Clinton warned the election of Donald Trump would be disastrous for the U.S. economy and result in what she dubbed a "Trump recession." "He’s written a lot of books about business. They all seem to end at Chapter 11. Go figure," Clinton said. But Hillary Clinton’s economic policies are still facing criticism from her own party. Last week in an address to supporters, Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders told supporters he planned to go to the Democratic convention next month in Philadelphia to push the party in a more progressive direction. We speak to Thomas Frank, author of the new book, "Listen, Liberal: Or, What Ever Happened to the Party of the People?" We don't have another 4 or 8 years to change direction.

"actions..different from her rhetoric"..? he just described every fucking politician in washington..jesus.

Thomas Frank you are incorrect calling them a meritocracy, they are not that good, they need to cheat in order to win. They are a bureaucracy more than a group of intelligent people would be. They just aren't that smart. They are just in power because we have been fooled for a time.
Jill Stein the green party candidate looks better and better. -
She just has to do the opposite of what she's saying and yes, I'll support her. Well, Koch, start writing cheques because Hillary is the Queen of doing the opposite of what she says.
-
Trump will win the WH because progressive media like TYT, Ring of Fire, Secular Talk all give TRUMP free media all the time. After all the rigging and the election fraud in the primaries, millions of disenfranchised Bernie Sanders supporters dont want to see Hillary in the WH.
Bernie Supporters will mostly vote for TRUMP because "progressives" media
hardly even mention Jill Stein. I cant believe this shit.
If its really Hillary vs Trump because progressive media failed to build up the only
remaining progressive after Bernie droppt out, Im going to vote for Trump because
I dont want to see Hillary in the WH.
"Progressive" media is pretty much like establisment media. TRUMP IS A CLICKBAIT. THEY LOVE TO GET MORE CLICKS. They fear Trump and want to vote for the
lesser evil Shillary.
Jill Stein could continue the revolution, but only if progressive media supports her. She needs 15% in polls to participate in the debates. As soon as people know her,
americans will realize that she is pretty much the female version of Bernie. But that might not happen because of this "shitty" progressive media.
More then 60% of americans are sick of a two party system and THIS election could be a REAL chance to change that. The two most unfavorable
candidates in the history of america are running for the major parties. -
Since when does the president decide who gets prosecuted? That's the justice department's job. Do they ask prez whether or not to prosecute a murderer? No. The crime is prosecuted and if convicted then he has an option to use political capital to pardon. Our constitutional republic has become a banana republic at best. Oligarchy at worst.

Did not the DNC refuse to have Union people on the platformcommity? That's telling.....
-
If Frank is right in saying to Dems do not want to go back to Rooseveld's peoples party, then there is no other choice for progressives to vote for Stein.

(Capital hill)ary $ouled out! Bernie needs to take a serioUS stand or else we are doomed!!!!

Time expired (apple pie)

I have to disagree with Thomas Frank on a point he made at the end of this interview. 4-8 years from now there will be another Trump. The only change is that he will represent the Dems as the Overton Window continues its relentless rightward march. The the GOP will come up with a far more frightening and utterly mad candidate. All reasonable people will then be asked for the Dem's Trump as the better of two evils. The better-of-two evils argument has to end here. It's time to vote for someone we actually believe in. #BernieOrBust

HILLARY Doesn't Deserve The Oval Office, SHE Deserves PRISON.
AND NEEDS TO BE MADE AN EXAMPLE OF, SO NOBODY EVER DOES IT AGAIN. -
AND ITS ALL THIER FAULT for pushing HER ON US.
NOBODY ELSE'S.
THEY CAN REMEDY THIS. THEY KNOW WHAT TO DO. THEY JUST DONT WANT TO ADMIT THEY SCREWED UP WITH HER. -
please don't write Bernie off yet
-
Vote Green people!!! Lets make the Green Party visible!

Charles Koch said that in order for him to support Secretary Clinton, "We would have to believe that her actions will be quite different from her rhetoric."
^^That right there is the crux of her unpopularity among the electorate. We don't believe her, and we don't trust her. She is the shittiest possible candidate to put up against Donald Trump, because so many points with which a candidate could attack him, he can just throw right back at her and she cannot credibly defend herself against them. I am not at all confident that she would defeat him in November, but I feel like either one would be a disaster for the country that I love so much. -
