I am amazed at the work ethic and intellectual power of South Korea and Japan. I was a soldier serving in South Korea in the mid seventies. I had no doubt that one day South Korea would be a world economic power, and by that time Japan already was. One thing I want to say here... Korea was not occupied by Japan as a result of the many landings and occupations such as those on the Philippines and the Dutch East Indies at the beginning of World War II... rather Japan had enslaved and occupied Korea at the beginning of the century. When the Philippines fell to the brutal Japanese, the Koreans had over twenty years suffering under the cruel and demanding Japanese. Yes I respect both cultures... Japan has my respect, but South Korea has my respect and sympathy, as do the Chinese, Philippines, and other peoples killed and enslaved to work on Japanese projects and their women forced in to sexual pleasure service for the Imperial Armed Forces. Japan will never admit, nor repent. I didn't even mention the sadistic Japanese Biological Warfare project in Harbin China that tortured and killed Americans, UK Soldiers, but mostly very unlucky Chinese. God bless all of them... the truth will never be known. The Japanese will never repent.

So after the war, Korea was split in two, and then went to war with each other but Japan was able to quickly recover by producing supplies for the Korean War?

scholars consider sweat producing work shame cuz they believe no Confucian
aristocrat should be involved in any sweat producing menial labour but his

in that Confucian Kingdom of Korea namely aristocrats, commoners & slaves!
However by the end 0f the 19th century there had been more Confucian
aristocrats than slaves almost at the ratio of 7:3 thru illegally purchasing of
phony Confucian Aristocracy status thru rampant bribery then, meaning more
people to receive service than those who serve & in that same sense meaning
more people to consume than those who produce in that un-automated not even
industrially revolutionized but labor intensive state of Korea just like Japan
& China then, instead of 1:9 ratio at the founding of the Kingdom at the
late 14th century cuz that Confucian society became more & more
corrupt!

It
was basically a time of 賣官賣職 meaning trading the
status & the governmental position thru bribery instead of going thru fair
national exam held regularly for governmental positions from the founding of
the Kingdom: those commoners & slaves had been barred from any chance for
those governmental exam for any governmental positions by law cuz they r
basically for aristocrats only! The status of aristocracy had been designated
at the founding of the state by their major contribution in setting up the
nation, & also prior prolonged recognition as aristocrats from the former
dynasties existed even before that state had ever been found!

However they never cared about such wide
rampant corruption in their society when those Korean royal courts started to
become an incompetent regime to exercise any authority cuz those phony
Confucian aristocrats were holding power over the ineffectual royal court for

on the well being of each of their families only as they thought cuz their own

courageous centralized governmental nation then no family honour whatsoever cuz
